KRV demands suspension of TTE for ‘assaulting passenger'

(KRV) has called for suspension of a Hindi-speaking travelling ticket examiner (TTE) who physically assaulted a passenger, Mahmad Basha Attar, confiscated his mobile phone, and verbally abused him.

KRV district unit staged a protest outside the railway station on Saturday, condemning the incident and submitting a formal petition to the general manager of SWR via the station manager.
KRV district president B Girishanand Jnansundar stated, "The incident occurred near Bengaluru on April 24, involving Mohammed Basha Attar, a resident of Bhagyanagar, Koppal taluk. He was assaulted after he requested the ticket collector, who was speaking in Hindi, to communicate in Kannada.
Such incidents have been on the rise, and the ticket collector responsible for the incident must be suspended," he asserted.
The protest was attended by KRV district general secretary Ningappa Naushik, district honorary president Sharanappa Chandanakatti, and several others, including Sanjay Khatavate, Siddu Sasimath, Praful Patil, Veeresh Mundasad, Noor Pasha Kavalur, and Sanjeev Singh Hazare.
SWR reviews TTE slapping incident

reviewed the incident on which TOI published a report titled 'TTE slaps man for requesting to speak in Kannada' on Saturday.
Pranesh KN, public relations officer, Bengaluru division, SWR, stated that the investigation is in progress and passenger feedback is also being obtained regarding this incident. "According to statements from the batch in-charge, Kulkarni, and the TTE, Ravi Ranjan, the passenger did not produce a valid ticket or identification card when tickets were being checked. Instead, the passenger was verbally abusive towards the TTE.

He also insisted that the TTE speak only in Kannada and began video recording the conversation on his mobile phone. Ranjan stated that he did not physically assault the passenger. He requested the individual to stop recording the conversation, and during the interaction, the phone accidentally slipped from the passenger's hand," he added.
