Laxman castigates Kharge for ‘undeclared emergency' jibe at Modi's governance
Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha member and National President of the BJP OBC Morcha, Dr K Laxman, criticised AICC Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, asserting that the 11 years of governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been mischaracterised as an 'undeclared emergency.' He emphasised that these years reflect a strong commitment to development, which he believes the Congress Party struggles to accept in light of its recent electoral defeats. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Dr Laxman highlighted the historical context of media freedom, recalling the real emergency that occurred in 1975 during Congress rule. In contrast, he argued that democratic institutions have been reinforced under Modi's administration, with an independent judiciary and a commitment to media freedom. Dr Laxman noted that the election of a Prime Minister from a humble background for the third consecutive time illustrates the strength of Indian democracy. He pointed out that numerous employment opportunities have emerged under the Modi government through initiatives such as Startup India, Standup India, and Make in India. Furthermore, significant investments in infrastructure—encompassing roads, railways, and airports—have contributed to enhanced sector-based employment. He also reported an increase in farmers' income, citing a rise in the support price of paddy from Rs 1,310 to Rs 2,300, along with benefits from schemes like free urea, soil health cards, and crop insurance. Dr Laxman praised women's empowerment initiatives such as BetiBachaoBetiPadhao, Matru Vandana Yojana, and the introduction of a 33 per cent reservation for women in legislative assemblies, along with extensions to maternity leave. He emphasised the positive changes regarding India's foreign policy, noting the strengthening of relations with countries like the United States, Russia, Israel, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, he commended the Indian Army for its decisive actions against terrorism, including operations like 'Operation Sindoor.' Despite political strife among Congress and BRS leaders in Telangana, Dr Laxman asserted that Prime Minister Modi remains committed to treating all state Chief Ministers equally and continues to allocate resources and projects to states regardless of political affiliations. Dr Laxman stated that the BJP's focus will remain on national development beyond electoral politics and reiterated the party's determination to support the people of Telangana and address their concerns. He asked Mallikarjun Kharge and the Congress party to recognise these facts.

Political row after street performer ‘heckled' for singing ‘Allah Ke Bande' on Tripurasundari Temple premises
Tripura's Opposition CPM and ruling BJP have commented on a controversy that erupted when a man allegedly heckled a singer at a street dance performance on the Mata Tripurasundari Temple's premises for singing Kailash Kher's Allah Ke Bande song. In a video of the incident that has gone viral online since May 18, singer Shanu Malakar, from Gomati district, is seen being 'threatened' by a man who introduces himself as a 'rashtravadi' (nationalist) and says Allah's praise cannot be done in a temple. Malakar, in response, says he performs street dance to raise funds to help the poor and needy. The man, who the CPM claims is BJP OBC Morcha leader Tushar Shil from West Tripura, is seen purportedly saying that 'this is Hindustan', 'those who worship Allah' are jihadis', and that 'such songs cannot be sung' on Indian soil. Referring to the video, CPM Politburo member and Opposition leader Jitendra Chaudhury said on Tuesday, 'A post has become viral on social media, after seeing which I got shocked. What is happening in the state! A youth, Sanu Malakar, a folk singer who earns some money from street dance performances and acrobatics, was seen singing a devotional song with an appeal to humanity in a viral post on social media…That song had the word 'Allah' or something related to it… He was threatened by a person in front of a large gathering on why he uttered the word 'Allah'.' Chaudhury alleged that the general mindset of people had turned toxic under BJP rule to the extent that people who question any government decision are asked to go to Pakistan and denied the right to live in India. 'In front of many people, he (Shanu Malakar) was threatened. The one threatening him was almost about to assault him. Probably, it was not seen in the video clip, but it was published in some newspapers that he was physically assaulted as well,' the CPM leader said. Chaudhury also said every Indian has the constitutional right to express their beliefs through devotional songs of any religion. 'So many people have been arrested in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terrorist attack on different charges and harassed for 10-12 days…. Why is there no arrest here? If police are asked about such issues, they say no one has filed an FIR. Surprisingly, the police suo motu slaps different sections of the law against those who try to speak about constitutional rights,' he said. BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya responded to the controversy. 'It is natural that azaan can't be performed in temples; neither can Durga Puja be performed in mosques. His intention has to be understood.' Commenting on Chaudhury's statements about extensive arrests in the aftermath of the Pahalgam massacre, the BJP leader said, 'If someone tries to speak in favour of Pakistan sitting in India, they will obviously be arrested. Jitenbabu seems to be in favour of such people. If he is, it won't be a very convenient stand for them (CPM).' Last year, the Gomati district magistrate issued a notice prohibiting the shooting and posting online of 'improper' dance or music videos or reels that have the potential to hurt religious sentiments. The April 11, 2024, notice, which also warned of legal action, came after some performances by social media influencers on the premises of the Mata Tripurasundari Temple triggered outrage.

Caste census announcement: BJP leaders conduct ‘Palabhishekam' to Modi
Hyderabad: BJP OBC Morcha National President Dr K Laxman said the Central Government's decision to conduct a caste census alongside the national population census is a significant step toward achieving social justice. He emphasised that this move will benefit all segments of society and contribute to the overall development and progress of the country. The party leaders organised 'Palabhishekam to PM Modi's portrait at the BJP state office in Nampally, welcoming the decision. Later, addressing the media on Thursday, he dismissed claims by the Congress party that they deserved credit for the decision made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government. He pointed out that the last caste census was conducted during British rule in 1931. The Congress party, which governed the country for 60 years after independence, failed to include caste enumeration in the census, thereby neglecting the needs of various communities. After 94 years, the Modi government has made a historic decision to reinstate this process for the benefit of all sections of society, including the poor, marginalised groups, and Dalits. April 30 will be a day marked in history. Dr B R Ambedkar provided rights to various communities, including Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), in the Constitution. Today, people across the nation, especially those in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, refer to Narendra Modi as 'Abhinava Ambedkar' and 'Abhinava Jyotiba Phule.' The propaganda by Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy claiming that Telangana serves as a role model for caste enumeration is disingenuous. The Congress party has a long history of undermining the rights of backward classes and suppressing reservations. During the UPA regime in 2010, BJP leaders such as Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, and Sushma Swaraj pushed for a caste census. However, according to Article 246 of the Constitution, it was categorised as a private agency, and a costly survey amounting to Rs 5,000 crore was conducted with the help of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NEC), but details of that survey have not been disclosed. Previously, a survey was conducted in Karnataka at the cost of Rs 300 crore, but the findings were not made public due to internal conflicts within the Congress party. Currently, under Narendra Modi's leadership, a historic decision to conduct a scientific caste census is underway. Steps are being taken to gather caste-specific information, design welfare programs, and allocate sufficient funds in the budget. The recent caste census executed by the Revanth Reddy government in Telangana was deemed unscientific. 'Why was that information not made public? Why was it not shared in the assembly? Why were the village-wise, caste-wise details and their economic and social status not disclosed?' he asked. In Telangana, where Muslims constitute 12 per cent of the population, only 10 per cent were classified as OBCs, resulting in injustice to backward classes. Although it was previously stated that 51 per cent of BCs are in Telangana, Congress distorted the figure to 46 per cent in the caste census. How can this be seen as a role model? Rahul Gandhi should answer for this discrepancy, he added. For the first time, the NDA government conducted a caste census in Bihar, which was legally instituted in the assembly, and all the details were disclosed. However, some parties approached the court, resulting in a stay on the proceedings. The caste census decision made by the Narendra Modi government will be executed comprehensively and historically. Based on Modi's vision, this initiative aims to strengthen the social and economic foundations of the country. The fact that 27 OBC members are currently part of the Modi cabinet serves as a testament to this commitment, he said.
