Unhygienic food practices exposed in Mathura; minor caught washing plates in bathroom in viral video
A deeply disturbing case of negligence and unhygienic food practices has come to light from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, leaving locals and social media users outraged. A viral video, which surfaced on May 31, shows a young boy–reportedly the nephew of a hotel owner–cleaning food plates inside a bathroom using dirty water, possibly even toilet water. The incident took place at the BK Brijwasi Hotel, located on Barsana-Govardhan Road.
The boy, who is a minor, is seen squatting in a cramped bathroom space, scrubbing utensils in conditions no one would consider remotely clean. Following public uproar, the police quickly arrested both the hotel owner, Bhura Khan, and the boy. Authorities have since filed a case against Khan for serving unsafe food, and investigations are underway to determine if child labour laws were also violated, according to Brut India.

The video has ignited a wave of protest online. One user wrote, 'I wonder why does India not do hygiene inspections like other countries do. Every eating establishment should be visited by undercover officers every week.'
Another user said, 'You pick a restaurant of your choice and you would be surprised if you don't find similar (un) hygienic practices there.' Echoing this sentiment, a third user commented, 'Who thinks he's the only one?? More than 50% are the same around the northern states.'
Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident. In another recent viral clip, a tea vendor on a moving train was caught rinsing his tea container using a toilet's jet spray. The video shows the container placed directly on an Indian-style toilet as the man casually washes it, sparking yet another wave of anger and demands for accountability.
