Morocco Reports High-Grade Copper in Ouarzazate BMR Property
Doha – Morocco Strategic Minerals Corporation (TSXV: MCC) has announced promising results from its recent sampling program at the BMR copper-gold property. The program, completed in May, targeted a prominent mineralized structure in the property located southeast of Ouarzazate in Morocco. The BMR property covers approximately 9 km² and features a subvertical mineralized structure spanning about 1.2 km in its southern portion. This structure is characterized by brecciated quartz-carbonate veining with visible copper oxide minerals, including chalcocite and malachite. Initial surface sampling had returned values of up to 11.73% copper and 5.53 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, prompting the company to conduct follow-up exploration. The May program collected 67 rock samples along the mineralized structure, which were analyzed at Afrilab Laboratory in Marrakech. The results confirmed the high-grade potential of the property. Of the samples collected, 37 returned copper grades exceeding 2.00% Cu, with a maximum value of 9.33% Cu. Additionally, 19 samples showed oxide copper grades above 2.00% CuOX, reaching a maximum of 6.51% CuOX. Seven samples contained gold grades exceeding 0.30 g/t Au, with a maximum of 0.43 g/t Au. One sample reported a notable silver grade of 52 g/t Ag. 'These results confirm the high-grade copper potential of the southern structure and reveal notable gold and silver anomalies. The mineralization style suggests the potential for a larger polymetallic system, warranting further exploration,' said Pierre-Olivier Goulet, VP of Corporate Development for Morocco Strategic Minerals Corp. The BMR property is accessible via the national road N9, which connects Ouarzazate and Zagora, and by a two-km track from kilometer 24 of road N9. The area contains two main zones of mineralization with different styles of copper presence. In the southern zone, a subvertical mineralized structure with a 1.2 km strike length and up to 5m width shows tectonic brecciation within a shear zone exposed at the surface. The main zone of mineralization varies from 0.5m to 3m in width, occasionally reaching over 5m, and contains massive sulfide veins that dip steeply eastward. The northern part of the property features a historical copper quarry from which approximately 4,000 tonnes of material were extracted, most of which remains on site. Here, copper mineralization occurs in veins or is disseminated within volcanic rocks, surrounded by a zone of propylitic alteration. Morocco Strategic Minerals is currently designing a follow-up program that will include detailed mapping, trenching, and geophysical surveys. These efforts aim to further evaluate the extent of mineralization and identify new targets across the property. The company, a Canadian mineral exploration firm, focuses on acquiring, exploring, and potentially developing natural resource properties in Canada and Morocco. According to the company, sample analysis involved quality control protocols, including the insertion of standards and blanks every 30 samples. All samples were analyzed for multiple metals using Aqua regia digestion followed by atomic absorption spectroscopy, with samples containing above 5% Cu content being reanalyzed using titration method. Gold was analyzed using fire assay. Read also: Critical Mineral Resources Secures £1.33 Million for Morocco Copper Project Tags: copper MoroccoMorocco Strategic Minerals CorporationOuarzazate

How a pop star's actions stirred a master class in copyright law
You may have heard that Taylor Swift recently purchased the rights to her master sound recordings from her first six albums for a reported $350 million dollars. This has led many people to wonder, why would she have to buy the rights to her own music and how did she do it? The answer involves a mix of copyright law, contract law, determination, savvy business and a dedicated fan base. The story begins with a 15-year-old Taylor Swift signing a music contract with Big Machine Records (BMR) and releasing her first album, 'Taylor Swift' in 2006. As a part of her music contract, BMR financed the production of her first six albums and received ownership of the master recordings that formed each of those albums. By receiving ownership in the master recordings, BMR, through the exclusive rights granted to copyright owners in Section 106 of U.S. Copyright Law, was able to control how the recordings were distributed, licensed and monetized. Swift also agreed to not re-record her music for a period of time. Importantly, ownership of the master recordings is separate from the ownership of the musical work, which, according to copyright law, vests in the composer or creator. Because Swift wrote or co-wrote the vast majority of the songs on these albums, she held substantial 'composer' rights. Over the course of these six albums, Swift became one of the most popular and best-selling recording artists of all time. Things began to get really interesting in November of 2018 when Taylor Swift's contract with BMR expired and she left and signed with Universal Music Group's Republic Records. As a part of that deal, she negotiated for her ownership of all of her future master recordings recorded for Republic Records. At the same time, she alleges that she was trying to purchase her master recordings from BMR. In June of 2019, BMR was sold to Ithaca Holdings for a reported $330 million dollars. Ithaca Holdings was controlled by music executive Scooter Braun. Because BMR owned Swift's master recordings from her first six albums, Ithaca Holdings became the new owner of the rights to these recordings. Swift was not happy with the sale as she was trying to purchase her recordings at the same time. This ignited a public feud that was so newsworthy, it led to its own docuseries on Max called 'Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood.' Swift publicly asserted that BMR and Braun had bullied her and presented her with unreasonable demands as it related to the potential sale of the master recordings back to her. Additionally, she alleged that they had refused to allow music from any of her first six albums to be used in a Netflix documentary about Swift or to be performed at the 2019 American Music Awards where she was honored as Artist of the Decade. Ithaca and Braun denied these allegations. In response to the feud, on July 13, 2019, Kelly Clarkson tweeted, 'just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don't own the masters on exactly how you did them but put brand new art and some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I'd buy all of the new versions just to prove a point.' Later Clarkson would credit Reba McEntire with inspiring the tweet, as McEntire had re-recorded some of her songs years earlier. In August of 2019, Swift announced that she was going to do exactly that and plans for the re-recording began. In the meantime, Ithaca Holdings sold Swift's master recordings to Shamrock Capitol for between $300 and $450 million dollars in November of 2020. This second sale further infuriated Swift who allegedly was still trying to buy the rights. In April of 2021, after her contractual obligation to not rerecord her music had passed, Swift released 'Fearless (Taylor's Version).' This was followed by 'Red (Taylor's Version)' in November of 2021, 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' in July of 2023 and '1989 (Taylor's Version)' in October of 2023. Shamrock Holdings could still sell the original versions, but the demand for these plummeted. Instead, everyone wanted to buy, use and license the new versions, which were entirely controlled by Swift as the owner of both the composer rights and the master recording rights. However, she didn't own the rights to all of her music until she purchased them, together with full ownership of unreleased songs, album art, concert films, photography and music videos last month for a reported $350 million dollars. Because of Swift's actions, artists (and their agents and managers) should have a better understanding of what they might be giving up when they enter into a recording contract. Conversely, companies that have musician contracts are already trying to extend the period of time where an artist cannot re-record their music in order to avoid this situation. To say this was a master class in business would be an understatement. Swift capitalized on copyright law, contract law and her fan base to get exactly what she had been pursuing for years. In her own words, 'All of the music I've ever made…now belongs…to me.'

Competitors for Spain's future 6x6 armored vehicle face off in Madrid
PARIS — Defense manufacturers eyeing a possible Spanish order for a new 6-wheeled armored vehicle flocked to Madrid this week for the biannual Feindef defense show, presenting new designs or agreeing to work together on armor for the country's land forces. Spain's Technology & Security Developments and Grupo Oesía, Turkey's FNSS Savunma Sistemleri and Belgium's John Cockerill Defense signed a memorandum of understanding to provide a six-wheeled cavalry vehicle for the Spanish Army, the companies said in a joint statement on Wednesday. TDS, Oesía, FNSS and John Cockerill said they aim to offer the Spanish Army an off-the-shelf solution, with local logistics support and life cycle management. Their offer is specifically designed for cavalry operations and providing fire support for expeditionary forces, the four firms said. Spain's Ejercito de Tierra operates the 6x6 BMR, a more than four decades-old 15-ton vehicle built by Santa Bárbara Sistemas, now part of General Dynamics European Land Systems, or GDELS. The army is replacing at least part of its wheeled fleet with the 8x8 Dragón, a heavier and more expensive vehicle that's faced delivery delays and which local media report has suffered mechanical issues. Indra acquired a majority stake in the consortium that makes the Dragón in October, buying shares from partners GDELS, SAPA and Escribano Mechanical and Engineering, or EM&E. Separately, Spain's EM&E presented the Ferox 6x6 armored vehicle at Feindef, after an agreement in February with NIMR Automotive, a unit of the United Arab Emirates' EDGE, to build six-wheeled armored vehicles in Spain. The agreement provides for transfer of knowledge and 'progressive national industrialization' of the vehicle, with design authority in Spain, EM&E said. 'This vehicle marks the beginning of a new stage for EM&E Group in the field of armored vehicles,' Chief Executive Fernando Fernández said. Meanwhile, Rheinmetall and Indra on Tuesday announced a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on armored-vehicle projects for the Spanish armed forces. With the MoU, the companies 'start a strong alliance to support the efforts of the Spanish Armed Forces to modernize their fleet of combat vehicles,' said Eduardo Veen Martinez, the CEO of Rheinmetall's tactical vehicles business unit. For its part, GDELS presented its Pandur 6x6 EVO armored vehicle at the defense show in Madrid, with the company saying its presence as Feindef reflects a 'firm commitment' to the Spanish armed forces and the government's defense industrial strategy. The company also unveiled a new tracked artillery system at the show called the Ascod Nemesis, consisting of a 155mm artillery gun module from KNDS mounted on an Ascod tracked chassis by GDELS.
