Firearm used in parking row in Metiabruz

Kolkata: A family of three from Metiabruz was injured in a parking brawl with a neighbour, who shot at one of them with a firearm and attacked others with the gun butt and hockey sticks, early on Sunday. The gun misfired, police said. Md Samsad was parking his two-wheeler outside his home at R Block on Garden Reach Road, when his neighbour, Md Sajjad, reportedly objected to it and threatened him with dire consequences. "Sajjad went into his house but returned with others, carrying a country-made gun and hockey sticks," said an officer from the Metiabruz PS. "According to the complaint from the victim, Sajjad shot at them but the gun misfired." When Samsad's son stepped in, Sajjad hit him in the face with the gun's butt, fracturing his nose, said police, adding the accused and his aides attacked the family with hockey sticks. Before fleeing, the attackers reportedly threatened to kill the family in their next encounter. "We have registered an FIR under BNS and Arms Act. A search is on for the accused," said the officer. Police are checking CCTV footage from the area. The incident has led residents to demand increased police patrolling. "Violence over trivial matters is turning regular. We demand strict action," said Md Arbaz, a resident.

Gangland clash plays out on Panchkula streets, kabaddi star shot dead

1 2 3 Panchkula: In a chilling display of gangland violence, Sonu Nolta, a 32-year-old national kabaddi player, was gunned down in a brutal ambush outside Cosmo Mall in Amravati on Thursday night. The attack, which unfolded around 10:30 pm, is believed to have been orchestrated by Anmol Bishnoi, brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi , in what police describe as a fallout of long-standing personal enmity. Nolta, a resident of Nolta village in Kalka, had just finished watching a movie with his friend Nitin alias Prince, 26, and two women. As they sat in their Scorpio SUV, a Maruti Swift pulled up beside them. Without warning, a barrage of bullets, 15 rounds in total, was unleashed. Seven bullets struck Nolta, hitting his back, chest, head, and hand, killing him instantly. Prince, a resident of Mallah village in Pinjore, was shot in the thigh. He was rushed to Sector 6 civil hospital, then referred to PGI Chandigarh due to the severity of his injuries. Doctors said he is out of danger. The crime scene was littered with 12 bullet shells, and forensic teams recovered four more during their investigation. DCP Shrishti Gupta, along with teams from crime branch Sector 19 and 26, arrived at the scene to oversee the probe. What followed was a brazen digital confession. Within 20 minutes of the murder, a man identified as Piyush Pinjori uploaded a video to Instagram, claiming responsibility. In the video, he declared: "Ram Ram brothers. This is the crime... we committed it. If anyone else has a problem, he can tell us." Piyush, once a close friend of Sonu, had reportedly fallen out with him over personal disputes. Sources say the two were seen together just two days before the murder, possibly in a final, failed attempt at reconciliation. He was allegedly accompanied by Ankush, who was seen brandishing a pistol in a separate viral video. Police have registered a case under BNS and Arms Act and have formed three special teams to track down the accused. Firing at Pinky Dhaliwal's house: 1 of two shooters arrested

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The motive behind the attack was extortion, police said, adding that the gangsters stole a motorcycle from Haridwar specifically to execute the crime. Superintendent of Police (investigation) Saurav Jindal on Tuesday said the arrested individual, Ankit Rana (21), a resident of Ucha Chandna village in Yamunanagar, is associated with the notorious Kala Rana and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs. Rana was apprehended from his native village by a team led by Inspector Harminder Singh of the CIA wing. Kala Rana is lodged in Delhi jail at present. According to Jindal, the two suspects had first stolen a motorcycle from Haridwar, Uttarakhand, before carrying out two back-to-back crimes — one in Yamunanagar and the other in Mohali. The stolen motorcycle was used in both incidents, and an FIR for the theft is registered at Haridwar. The Mohali firing incident took place outside Pinky Dhaliwal's home around 10pm on May 24. As per the complaint filed by his son, Gurkaran Singh Dhaliwal, two unidentified men initially approached the house asking for the address. They returned shortly afterward, left a threatening note on the gate, opened fire at the property, and fled the scene. The note mentioned the "Kala Rana Lawrence Bishnoi Group" in English. The case was registered at Mataur police station under multiple sections of the BNS and Arms Act. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Jindal said Pinky Dhaliwal had previously received threats from various gangsters, demanding extortion money. "Following the incident, a dedicated police team began working on the case. This led to the arrest of Ankit Rana," Jindal said. "He is now in police custody for nine days for further interrogation." Police revealed that Rana has a criminal background, with a previous snatching case registered against him at Chhapar police station in Yamunanagar. During interrogation, he admitted to also being involved in a shooting at the Flying Colors International Center in Bilaspur, Yamunanagar, on May 15. That case is under investigation by Bilaspur police.

Celebratory firinginjures woman, her grandmother in Varanasi

Varanasi: A 20-year-old woman and her 75-year-old grandmother suffered bullet injuries in celebratory firing during a pre-wedding ceremony in Tilmapur area on Friday night, police said. ACP Sarnath Vijay Pratap Singh said accused, Dheeraj Tiwari, initially fled the scene but was arrested by Sarnath police later in the night. The illegal firearm was recovered from him, and he was sent to jail after a case was lodged under sections of the BNS and Arms Act on Saturday. The incident occurred when family members of Nirankar Mishra, whose son's marriage was slated for Monday, and relatives gathered on the terrace for a pre-wedding ceremony on Friday evening. Eyewitnesses said one guest, Dheeraj, arrived in an inebriated state around 11pm and attempted to open fire with a pistol. However, when it did not fire despite repeated attempts, he brought the pistol down to inspect it. In the process of checking, the firearm went off repeatedly hitting Ayushi Mishra and her grandmother Reena Pandey in their legs. The incident led to chaos, and Dheeraj fled the scene. Both injured were immediately rushed to a hospital in Maldahiya. Upon receiving information, Sarnath police reached the spot. After gathering details about Dheeraj, police raided places where he might have gone, and by late night, he was arrested, said the ACP.

Murder accused booked for firing at cops, injured in encounter in Punjab's SBS Nagar

A 27-year-old man, wanted in connection with the killing of a CPI (M) activist, was injured during a police cross-firing in Behram, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district, on Thursday. The injured man has been identified as Baljit Singh, who was on the run after stabbing Prem Singh of Mandali village on the intervening night of May 9-10. According to senior superintendent of police (SSP) Mehtab Singh, acting on a tip-off, police teams conducted raids in Behram and tracked Baljit's movements near the inter-district border of SBS Nagar and Hoshiarpur. 'Upon spotting the police, Baljit opened fire, prompting retaliatory gunfire from the officers. One of the bullets struck him in the left leg. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment,' the SSP said. 'During the investigation, it was revealed that Baljit had been hired by Dharminder Singh of Mandali village, currently residing in Canada, to kill Prem Singh due to an old rivalry.' According to the SSP, Baljit, a history-sheeter, had seven FIRs against him, including one for murder at Goraya police station in Jalandhar and six for attempted murder at various police stations. He had been out on bail at the time of the incident. On May 10, a case was registered against Baljit and Dharminder under Sections 103 (murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police on Thursday lodged a fresh FIR against Baljit under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS and Arms Act at Behram police station for firing at police.
