Carla Murray to fill City Council vacancy
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Democrats on Binghamton City Council have chosen an educator to fill a vacancy on the legislative body.
Council has chosen Carla Murray to represent the city's First District, replacing fellow Democrat Olamni Porter who resigned last month.
Murray is currently an administrator at the BOCES Professional Learning and Innovation Center.
The SUNY Broome and Binghamton University alumna previously served as a Community Schools Coordinator in the Binghamton City School District. She has two children and has lived in the First Ward for over 20 years.
Murray is scheduled to be sworn in at a special Council meeting Monday evening.
A special election to complete the remainder of the term will be held in November.
