BPCC sees record number of dual enrollment graduates

BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A record number of high school students have earned degrees through Bossier Parish Community College's dual-enrollment program. Disney on Ice to debut characters from 'Moana 2' and 'Inside Out 2' The dual enrollment program enables eligible students to earn college credits before they graduate from high school. According to BPCC, 112 high school students from North Louisiana graduated from the college. The most popular programs among these graduates included an associate degree in general studies, electrician technology, emergency medical technician training, nursing assistant, and welding. 'This achievement highlights the incredible opportunities that dual enrollment provides, and we couldn't be prouder, ' said Jamie Hilburn, BPCC's dual enrollment coordinator. While many students across the region participated, the most active engagement for the program came from Bienville, Sabine, Natchitoches, and DeSoto parish schools. BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Bossier Parish Community College is launching an accelerated training program to prepare job-ready workers in six weeks. LSUA, BPCC team up for disaster and emergency program EMPWR LA is a pre-employment training program to rapidly prepare students for entry-level roles in manufacturing, distribution, and skilled trades. The program includes nationally recognized certifications. Participants will receive up to 240 hours of hands-on training. The program simulates a 40-hour work week led by experts and using state-of-the-art equipment. EMPWR LA's primary focus is on frontline worker roles, including assembly line workers, machine operators, and quality inspectors. BPCC Natchitoches launching new fiber optics certification program Joseph Brownlee, Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Division at BPCC, explains, 'EMPWR LA is about more than just training—it's about empowering individuals to launch meaningful careers in fields that drive our economy.' Enrollees must be at least 18, pass a drug screening, demonstrate the mental and physical ability to meet safety standards, and perform necessary tasks. Necessary tasks include lifting up to 70 pounds, standing for extended periods, and operating industrial equipment. TSTC Marshall grows diesel tech program with new facility EMPWR LA partners with leading advanced manufacturing, industrial production, distribution, and skilled trades companies. These companies actively help shape the curriculum and offer employment opportunities for graduates. Résumé writing, interviewing skills, and communication strategies are included, leading to an on-campus event that includes interviews with industry partners. EMPWR LA is limited to 15 participants per session. The all-inclusive tuition is $2,495, covering courses, materials, certifications, hands-on training, and basic safety gear. Bossier Parish Community College ranked among most military friendly school The NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) is a test for recent nursing graduates to determine if they are safe to practice. There are two NCLEX tests, one for registered nurses and one for licensed practical and vocational nurses. Both tests are designed to take information learned in school and determine if students can apply that knowledge critically. LSUA, BPCC team up for disaster and emergency program BPCC students in the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program posted a 98.72% pass rate. That rate does not just lead Louisiana's two-year colleges, but the entire state. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at all three of its campuses: Bossier, Natchitoches, and Sabine Valley. During the event, students will be able to: Register for Summer 2025 and Fall 2025 classes Meet with academic advisors for help with course selection and registration Get help with financial aid and military/veteran benefits LSUA, BPCC team up for disaster and emergency program FAFSA Completion Events will guide students and families through the financial aid process on Tuesday, May 20, at the Natchitoches campus and Wednesday, May 21, at the Bossier campus, both from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. BPCC encourages students to bring their FSA ID, 2023 federal 1040 tax forms, and 2023 W-2s. Since the FAFSA is role-based, a parent or guardian should accompany dependent students to help them complete the application accurately. Summer classes start on May 29, with fall classes beginning August 14. Students must register for each session by the first day of class.
