RTD Retiree Gets Life-Changing Windfall As 111th BSN SSP Millionaire

Azizah Kamarudin, 65, from Negeri Sembilan, became the 111th winner from the state to receive the grand prize. She began saving with BSN SSP in 1990 with just RM10 and remained consistent over the years for the sake of her family's future. The former Road Transport Department officer said she was informed of her win by a BSN representative via phone on May 5 and later verified it at the BSN branch in Senawang. 'Before the call, I had seen the winner announcement on BSN's Facebook page. I noticed a name that matched mine. 'I thought it must be someone else with the same name. But deep down, I hoped it was me,' she told reporters today after receiving a replica cheque for the prize at her home in Seremban Jaya. It was presented by BSN Negeri Sembilan's chief of Deposit Management, Mohd Ruzaini Mohd Sani, and deputy president of Public Relations and Communications, Christina Geeta Thomas. The mother of three said she plans to use the winnings to perform umrah with her husband, Baharuddin Md Yusof, 67, during Ramadan next year and save the rest. 'Alhamdulillah, I am grateful for all these blessings. This year, my husband, children and I received the offer to perform hajj together, which was unexpected. Since we performed hajj in 2018, we chose to postpone this time to give way to our children and to care for our grandchildren,' she said. Tailor delighted after winning RM1mil BSN SSP lucky draw
KOTA BARU: A tailor from Kampung Chempaka here, Roswani Ismail, 56, is now a millionaire after winning the 110th Bank Simpanan Nasional Sijil Simpanan Premium (BSN SSP) Millionaire's Draw. Roswani expressed her surprise at receiving a call from a BSN officer on the fourth day of Aidilfitri on April 3, informing her that she had won RM1 million in the draw. "Initially, I couldn't believe it, but the officer tried to convince me and asked me to come to the BSN office. Alhamdulillah, it was true that I had been picked. I will continue to save my winnings in the BSN SSP account as I want to increase my savings for the future," she told reporters here today. She related that she has saved money in her BSN account for over 20 years, but only began saving in the BSN SSP three years ago for a more secure future. "Saving in BSN SSP made me more disciplined. If I save in a normal account, it's easy to withdraw the money. But saving in BSN SSP, we need to be more careful, as the intention is to save for the long term. "The source of my savings comes from what I earn from tailoring, and also the money I saved when I worked as a salesperson at a boutique. Sometimes I save RM100 a month, sometimes more," she said. Roswani plans to donate some of her winnings to charity and take her siblings on umrah as well. "I'm grateful to BSN for giving this opportunity to people who wish to save.
