Sixteen-year-old Tanvi Sharma and 20-year-old Ayush Shetty booked their places in the finals of the BWF US Open with impressive wins at the Mid-America Center, making it a standout day for Indian badminton.
Tanvi stunned Ukraine's Polina Buhrova, ranked World No. 40, with a commanding 21-14, 21-16 victory in the women's singles semifinal, sealing the match in just 34 minutes. The young Indian, currently ranked World No. 66, continues her dream run after winning the Denmark Challenge in May and reaching a Super 100 final at the Odisha Masters last year.

Training at BAI's National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati, Tanvi will now face World No. 21 Beiwen Zhang of China in the title clash.
Meanwhile, Ayush Shetty pulled off the biggest win of his career by toppling World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen in a three-game thriller. After narrowly losing the opening game, Shetty bounced back to win 21-23, 21-15, 21-14 — avenging his semifinal defeat to Chou at the Taipei Open earlier this year.

Shetty will now take on Canada's Brian Yang in the final. Yang eased past Liao Jhuo Fu 21-10, 21-12 in his semifinal, but Shetty holds a 2-0 head-to-head advantage over him and will be eyeing his maiden BWF World Tour title.

Earlier in the tournament, Tanvi had cruised past Thailand's Pitchamon Opatniputh — the World No. 58 and 2023 junior world champion — with a 21-18, 21-16 straight-game win in the quarterfinals.
Shetty, on the other hand, fought hard to beat compatriot and World No. 54 Tharun Mannepalli 21-12, 13-21, 21-15 in the round of 16, setting the stage for his dream run to the final.
