Installation of Ambedkar statue in MP HC's Gwalior Bench complex being stopped by RSS-BJP: Cong

'We have already put forth the official stand of the Congress party on the incident that took place in connection with the statue of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in the premises of the High Court Bench in Gwalior. The opposition party also said that the Babasaheb's statue should be installed without delay. New Delhi, Jun 10 (PTI) The Congress on Monday alleged that the installation of a BR Ambedkar's statue in the Gwalior Bench complex of Madhya Pradesh High Court is being stopped due to pressure from the RSS-BJP as part of a 'well-planned conspiracy'. 'Today we are reiterating our stand that Babasaheb's statue should be installed there, but the RSS people have created a controversy as part of a well-planned conspiracy and they are trying to create conflict,' Congress' Madhya Pradesh in-charge Harish Chaudhary said at a joint press conference here along with senior leaders of the MP Pradesh Congress Committee. He alleged that this has always been the strategy of the RSS and the BJP. 'The Congress party and the entire country accept Babasaheb's contribution to the Constitution, because Babasaheb does not belong to any one class. The rights that people have received are Babasaheb's gift,' Chaudhary said. 'The Congress appeals to the Central and state governments to resolve the obstacle in installing Babasaheb's statue in the high court premises. We all want that Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue should be installed,' he said. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari said the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar was to be installed in the high court premises. 'In this case, the entire process was completed with the permission of the high court. Despite that, this process was stopped, it was due to pressure from the BJP-RSS,' he said. 'The Congress party is in favour of the installation of Ambedkar ji's statue. We will do social awareness and political movement to protect the Constitution,' Patwari said. 'I request that those who are creating obstacles in the installation of the statue should apologize for their mistake. BJP-RSS people are behind this entire act. The Congress opposes this,' he said. Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition Umang Singar claimed that none of the RSS' 'sarsanghchalaks' was from Dalit or tribal community, which makes it clear that they do not want to give respect to Dalits and tribals. 'BJP-RSS people want to change the history of the country. They want to eliminate the ideas of great people who played a role in nation building,' he alleged. "Attack on Constitution": Jairam Ramesh attacks CM Adityanath over previous remarks on reservation

New Delhi [India], May 26 (ANI): Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Monday lashed out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, calling out an old article published on the latter's official website that was critical of reservation policy, stating that it was an 'attack on Babasaheb's Constitution.' In a self-made video, Ramesh highlighted an article titled 'Aarakshan ki Aag main Sulagta desh (country in the fire of reservation)' published in 2014-2015 on the official website of Yogi Adityanath, and said that the words used in the article label reservations as part of the 'divisive politics.' He alleged that not only Adityanath, who used such language against reservation, but also Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi think along similar lines. 'The kind of words used in the article, this is an attack on Babasaheb's Constitution--such word, 'Nikamma banana wala aarakshan'. He calls reservation 'desh ki vibhajankari raajneeti (politics that divides the nation)'. UP CM is not the only person who uses such language (against reservation). I understand that this is how RSS and the Prime Minister think. They want to remove the Constitution drafted by Babasaheb,' the Congress General Secretary said. He further accused RSS and BJP of 'never agreeing' with Babasaheb's Constitution. Ramesh asserted that Congress and the INDIA bloc were fighting to protect this very Constitution. 'RSS and BJP never agreed with Babasaheb's Constitution. On November 30, 1949, Organiser published that Manuwaadi ideals are nowhere to be found in Ambedkar's Constitution. In 2024, we (Congress and INDIA bloc) are fighting to protect this Constitution,' he added. 'The Prime Minister had called caste census an urban Naxal idea. Now just think what Ajay Singh Bisht, who is eager to take over Modi's chair after @ 75, thinks about caste census? Just listen to his old harsh statements against reservation for Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Backward Classes,' Ramesh posted on X. (ANI)

Maya slams oppn to Babasaheb statue in MP

Lucknow: Referring to the opposition over the installation of an Ambedkar statue at the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court by a section of lawyers, national president said that lawyers with a casteist mindset should know that the Bahujan Samaj, which has been oppressed for years, now wants its respect. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now She also requested the Madhya Pradesh governor, CM and high court to intervene in the matter and allow the installation of the statue. In a series of posts on X, on Friday, the BSP chief said, "It was the high court that gave permission to install Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue at the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court on the demand of the lawyers there, and through the financial support provided by them. It was on the directions of the court that the spot was chosen, and the platform and the statue were readied." However, the installation of the statue is being opposed by a few lawyers due to their casteist thinking, said Mayawati, adding, "There was no action taken against them despite their instigating comments on social media. Those who oppose Babasaheb will have to understand that the Bahujan Samaj, which has been oppressed for years, now wants to get its respect." The former UP CM urged the governor, CM and the HC to remove the roadblocks in the installation of the statue and to get "the creator of the Constitution, Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's statue installed respectfully and immediately in the Gwalior bench of the MP high court."

Rare conjoined twins born with two heads, one torso

Mumbai: A woman delivered premature conjoined twins—with two heads but one torso—at the BMC-run Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Municipal General Hospital in Kandivli on Tuesday night. The twins were transferred to BMC's super-specialty LTMG Hospital in Sion on Thursday and are reportedly critical. "They are on ventilator support... any course of action can only be decided once they stabilise," said a senior doctor. A medical team, led by head of Paediatric Surgery Dr Paras Kothari, will have to study the children's internal anatomy in detail before planning any surgery, if at all, the doctor added. Sion Hospital dean Dr Mohan Joshi refused to comment. Conjoined twins are rare, with an incidence of 1 in 50,000 or 1 lakh live births. Doctors classify conjoined twins based on the point of fusion—chest (thoracopagus), abdomen (omphalopagus), head (craniopagus), and so on. Doctors at the municipal hospital in Kandivli said the mother only recently registered for delivery at their hospital despite being in an advanced stage of pregnancy. The mother, who was pregnant for the first time, underwent an emergency C-section and delivered the twins—classified as thoracopagus as they are joined at the chest—around 8 pm on Tuesday. After she was fit for discharge, the Kandivli doctors decided to transfer the twins to Sion Hospital for intensive care on Thursday. Conjoined twins develop when an early embryo only partially separates to form two individuals. Mumbai's best-known Siamese twins, Riddhi and Siddhi, turned 13 last week.

Mayawati criticises Congress and BJP over caste census and reservation issues

LUCKNOW: BSP National President Mayawati criticised Congress once again on Saturday for trying to take credit for the caste-based census, which the govt has decided to conduct for the first time since independence and the year 1931. She said that while doing so, Congress forgot about its history, which is a "black episode" for keeping crores of Dalits and OBCs deprived of their constitutional rights, including reservation. "Congress also lost because of it," said Mayawati. After being out of power, the newfound love of Congress for Dalits and OBCs is devoid of trust and nothing but opportunistic politics for the sake of their votes, said the BSP chief. "Who can forget about Congress's ill intention to make reservation ineffective and scrap it finally?" In a series of her posts on X, the former UP CM was also unsparing on BJP and said that it is no less than Congress in making reservation and other welfarist objectives of the constitution irrelevant. "Both are birds of the same feather." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like [Click Here] - 2025 Top Trending Search - Local network access Esseps Learn More Undo It is given its selfishness for votes and lust for power that BJP bowed down to people's expectations regarding the caste-based census, she said. The attitude of Congress and BJP has been casteist and malicious in many matters similar to conferring Bharat Ratna on Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and giving reservation to OBCs, said Mayawati, adding, "But the games of their politics of vote are weird. People need to be vigilant."
