5 Pak citizens in Lucknow sent back, 3 others given 24 hrs to leave

Lucknow: In the aftermath of Pahalgam attack, five Pakistani citizens who were in Lucknow on short-term tourist visas have been sent back to their country while three others have been told to leave the city within 24 hours. "Eight Pakistani citizens were present in Lucknow on short-term tourist visas. Five have been sent back and three others given the 24-hour deadline to leave," said JCP, law and order, Babloo Kumar. Acting on central govt orders, officials are trying to identify and ensure that Pakistani nationals present under any category of visa in any UP district are immediately sent back. Local police are also monitoring Indian citizens who maintain close ties with Pakistani nationals. A large number of Pakistani nationals, particularly from the Hindu community, have been travelling to India on short-term and long-term visas to meet family or seek Indian citizenship. The responsibility for registering such individuals lies with the district-level police (SPs), while the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) compiles and maintains their data. In light of recent directives from the central govt, Local Intelligence Units are collecting details on all Pakistani nationals present in any UP district.
