Buffalo man found guilty of killing 2 handymen on Zenner St.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was found guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of two Bangladeshi handymen on Buffalo's East Side in April 2024, Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane announced Friday. Dale O. Cummings, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the deaths of Babul Meah and Abu Yousuf, both Buffalo residents. Meah, 59, and Yousuf, 39, were working as handymen at the residence on the 100 block of Zenner Street. The two men were shot and killed by Cummings — who was unlawfully living in the upper apartment of the residence, officials said — on April 17, 2024 as they entered to perform repairs at the house. 'I am pleased to announce that a jury found the defendant guilty of these horrific and senseless murders,' Keane said in a statement. 'These two men were working as handymen when they encountered an armed squatter inside a vacant home. Tragically, their lives ended when this defendant intentionally shot both victims with an illegal semi-automatic rifle near the entrance and continued to fire shots as they retreated outside. The victims are survived by their wives and several children, and I hope their families feel justice has been served by this defendant being convicted.' Cummings is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25, and he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. *** Mark Ludwiczak joined the News 4 team in 2024.
