Dawn Richard Details Alleged Threats from Sean "Diddy" Combs
Originally appeared on E! Online Dawn Richard is sharing her memories of Sean "Diddy" Combs. The Danity Kane member—who began working with Combs while competing to be in his girl group on the 2004 show Making the Band—has been testifying in the music mogul's trial, where he is facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution. During her first day on the stand May 16, Richard recounted an instance in which Combs allegedly threatened his ex-girlfriend and hit her with a skillet of eggs. Now, on her second day of testimony on May 19 Richard—who would go on to join the group Diddy – Dirty Money after Danity Kane disbanded—shared additional insight into the alleged incident. "He said, 'You could go missing,' that we could die," Richard said of Combs, according to NBC News. "I was shocked but also scared, I couldn't believe this would be the beginning of a journey for us (with the group Dirty Money)." More from E! 'Frequently, he would punch her, choke her, slap her in the mouth, kick her, punch her in the stomach," Richard alleged. "It could be because Cassie was speaking up for herself. It could be random. It could be if she had an opinion for herself.' She continued, 'She would be quiet and when she had these moments of trying to stick up for herself, he would hurt her for it." Following the prosecution's examination of Richard, the defense cross examined her, during which they questioned her claim that Combs threatened her with death or going missing. In their cross, the defense alleged Richard did not bring up the detail of the missing threat during interviews with prosecutors in October and March. When Combs' attorney Nicole Westmoreland posited that Richard allegedly previously stated that Combs, 55, had said the incident 'was a love thing,' and did not mention people going missing. "That's not true, I don't recall not saying that," Richard said in response to the love claim, later adding in reference to not previously mentioning the threat to prosecutors, 'I didn't remember it, it was a long time ago and I did my best. I remember everything I am telling you now.' E! News reached out to Combs' legal team for comment. For more of the revelations from his trial, keep reading. (E!
