Egyptian Foreign Minister: Arab Summit in Baghdad Reflects Iraq's Status as a Stronghold of Arabism

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelaty affirmed on Friday that Iraq's hosting of the 34th Arab Summit reflects its status as a stronghold of Arabism and Islam. Expressing Egypt's confidence in Iraq's success in leading joint Arab action, he noted that the country's achievements are a source of pride for all Arabs.
In a video statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Abdelaty said, "On behalf of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, I extend my congratulations and appreciation to the brotherly Iraqi people, government, and state for the warm hospitality and generous delegation to host the 34th Arab Summit."
'What we have witnessed during our visit stability and signs of progress — is truly encouraging for every Arab,' he said.
Abdelatty also expressed pleasure in meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, highlighting the significant progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
He stressed that 'the warmth between the Egyptian and Iraqi peoples, as well as their leaderships, reflects deep historical ties,' praising the 'hospitality, excellent organization, and heartfelt sentiments' surrounding the summit.
'Egypt is fully confident that Iraq will successfully steer joint Arab efforts during its upcoming term as summit president, contributing to the advancement and strengthening of Arab cooperation,' he affirmed, adding that 'holding the summit in Baghdad underscores Iraq's status as a fortress of Arabism.'
On a personal note, Abdelatty expressed pleasure visiting several Baghdad neighborhoods, particularly Al-Mutanabbi Street, renowned for its rich cultural heritage. He wished 'continued progress and prosperity for the Iraqi people and ongoing high-level cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit,' concluding with 'heartfelt congratulations on the significant achievements accomplished.'
