Badri-Kedar Temple Committee gets new prez; 2 deputies appointed for the first time
1 2 Dehradun: In a move aimed at improving management and coordination of the Char Dham yatra amid increasing pilgrim numbers, the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), for the first time, has appointed two vice-presidents along with a new president, following directives from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Hemant Dwivedi of Pauri Garhwal has been named the new president of BKTC, while Rishi Prasad Sati from Chamoli and Vijay Kaparwan from Rudraprayag have been appointed as vice-presidents. Officials said that the inclusion of representatives from Pauri, Chamoli, and Rudraprayag — districts closely associated with the Char Dham shrines — will help decentralise decision-making and enhance coordination on the ground. The new leadership is expected to fast-track development work, streamline yatra arrangements, and ensure better facilities for pilgrims. Dhami congratulated the newly appointed office-bearers and expressed confidence in their ability to bring energy and vision to the committee. "This initiative is a significant step towards stronger and more transparent management of the sacred sites of Badrinath and Kedarnath," he said.
