Oracle showed up big at GITEX Africa this year, making it clear the continent is central to its future plans. 'This is the third year for Oracle at GITEX, and we're thrilled to be back,' said Alessio Bagnaresi, Vice President of AI Technology at Oracle. 'As you've probably noticed from our booth, we have a significant presence here in Africa and the UAE…a great platform to connect government institutions, private sector players, startups, and really bring the ecosystem together.' The company is pouring more money into its cloud business across the region, with new data centers coming to Morocco and Kenya. 'For us, it's crucial to be in the front seat as countries in the region develop their digital infrastructure,' the VP said in an interview with Morocco World News. One center in South Africa is already live Oracle's approach to the cloud is also getting more local. It lets telecoms and tech providers host Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) themselves and sell it as a service, keeping data closer to home and making deployment easier.
