‘You' star Penn Badgley reveals he reads Quran before bed
Actor Penn Badgley, best known for his leading role in Netflix's hit series You, recently revealed that spiritual exploration plays a key role in his daily routine — including keeping a copy of the Quran by his bed. In an interview with USA Today, Badgley shared that he often turns to passages from the Quran for reflection. 'Honestly, on my nightstand I have the Quran, which sometimes I meditate on a passage from,' he said. In addition to engaging with Islamic scripture, Badgley also spoke about his daily commitment to a spiritual discipline rooted in the Baha'i Faith. Each morning, the actor dedicates time to what is known as the 'long obligatory prayer,' a practice he said grounds him before facing the chaos of everyday life. 'Even if my mornings are chaotic because of kids and work, this is the one thing I never skip,' he noted. Though the prayer is typically around 15 minutes long, Badgley admitted he can complete it in about seven minutes when pressed for time, leaving room for a brief meditation afterward. 'If I can dedicate 15 to 20 minutes for this, it feels like a luxury. It helps me reconnect with life's meaning and purpose.'
