Neglecting environment will lead to destruction: Seer
Hassan: Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt seer Abhinava Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swami said that if the environment is neglected, it will eventually lead to the destruction of humanity.
He was addressing the gathering at an environmental awareness rally organised by Bahubali Educational Institutions on the occasion of
World Environment Day
at the Mutt premises. He said India is a country that worships nature, including trees, plants, stones, soil, and rivers.
"Our ancestors gave environment a divine and revered status. Everything that cannot be created by humans is part of the environment, and it is regrettable that in the rush of modernity, humans are destroying environment today," he said.
He emphasised that it is our duty to protect and raise awareness about the environment to ensure that future generations have access to essential clean air and water.
Dr BR Yuvaraj, administrative medical officer of a community health centre, said that celebrating the say is not just a one-day event, true celebration involves acting responsibly towards the environment every day. He said good health is possible if the surrounding environment is clean.
