Muslims hold silent protests in Barak

1 2 3 4 5 Silchar: Muslim community across Barak Valley took part in silent protests on Friday, after the Jumma Namaz prayers, against the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. They sought justice for the victims. In Silchar's Bara Masjid, large number of people gathered holding placards and wearing black badges. Hazrat Maulana Sabbir Ahmed, head of Bara Masjid, condemned the terror attack saying "terrorism has no place in Islam". He said Islam teaches people about peace, generosity and harmony. Congress leader, Aminul Haque Laskar, said, "Pakistan does not want Muslims in India to live in peace. We support the govt in its movements against terrorism," Laskar said. The protesters strongly demanded that all those involved in the dastardly attack on innocent people be sternly punished. Similar protests were also staged in other parts of Barak Valley on the day. People belonging to Muslim community at Banskandi in Sonai circle gathered in front of the Baitul Aman Jame masjid brandishing placards to denounce the terror attack at Pahalgam. They called once more for a decisive surgical strike as a requisite response. On this day, the youths expressed their dissent by binding black cloth across their mouths and holding placards bearing slogans such as "down with Pakistani terrorism," "stop the killing of innocent people," "may terrorism be eradicated," and "put an end to terrorist attacks." The protests were staged as per the directive of the All India Imam Organisation chief Imam Umar Ahmed Ilyasi who called for protests across the country after the Jumma Namaz prayers against the attack.
