LaVar Ball has right foot amputated: report
NEW YORK — LaVar Ball, well-known father of NBA players Lonzo and LaMelo Ball, had his right foot amputated, according to reports published Wednesday. Ball, 57, suffered a 'serious medical issue' that required the procedure, TMZ reported. The health problems that led to the amputation were unclear. Notorious for his publicity blitz before his sons were drafted into the NBA, Ball had largely avoided the spotlight in recent years. Lonzo, 27; LaMelo, 23, and their brother LiAngelo, 26, have not publicly commented on their father's health. While Lonzo and LaMelo have had successful NBA careers, LiAngelo is now a breakout rap artist. The entire Ball family starred in a six-season reality series, 'Ball in the Family,' from 2017-2020 on Facebook. In addition to chronicling the Ball brothers' rise to stardom, it also covered a stroke suffered by their mother, Tina, in 2017. Before he became known for his parenting decisions, LaVar played college basketball at West Los Angeles College, Washington State and Cal State-Los Angeles. He also had a brief stint in the NFL, where he was signed to the practice squads of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers but never played in a game.
