‘Water is Pakistan's red line,' says rattled Asim Munir on India's Indus waters decision
Gen Munir made the statements while speaking with vice-chancellors of several institutions, administrators, and top instructors and educators, according to the army read more Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan Army chief, said Thursday that Islamabad would never compromise on the water problem since it is tied to the basic rights of the country's 240 million people. Gen Munir made the statements while speaking with vice-chancellors of several institutions, administrators, and top instructors and educators, according to the army. 'Pakistan will never accept Indian hegemony,' he said. 'Water is Pakistan's red line, and we will not allow any compromise on this basic right of 240 million Pakistanis,' he said, referring to India's move to keep the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Munir also claimed that terrorists in Balochistan were backed by India and the militants involved in the unrest in the province have a connection with the Balochs. Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives. India carried out precision strikes as part of Operation Sindoor on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. It was followed by Pakistan's attempt to attack Indian military bases on May 8, 9, and 10. The Indian side responded strongly to the Pakistani actions. The on-ground hostilities ended with an understanding of stopping the military actions following talks between the directors general of military operations of both sides on May 10.

Bad news for Pakistan as China decides to hold direct talks with Munir's enemy for.... CPEC project: Not all is well between Pakistan and China. In order to save the China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, China has decided to start direct talks with Baloch rebels bypassing the Pakistani army to secure and speed up progress on the stalled CPEC. This new stance of China has been stated in clear words by China during the recent visit of Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif to Beijing. China is taking this step because CPEC is being constantly attacked by Baloch rebels, due to which major projects like Gwadar port and Reko Diq mining project have almost come to a standstill. Apart from this, China is also upset with the growing interest of US in the mineral resources of Balochistan. China has invested more than $ 60 billion in the CPEC project, but Baloch rebels continue to attack Chinese employees and Chinese projects. Many Chinese engineers have been killed by Baloch rebels. Therefore, China now wants to sit across the Balochs at the negotiating table. According to reports, China is also trying to send a positive message to the rest of the countries associated with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). China has been struggling for more than a decade and now believes that the real protectors of Balochistan are the Balochi people. This attitude of China shows that it should now talk on its own instead of relying on the Pakistan Army after many reports suggest that the Asim Muni's Army has lost control over most areas of Balochistan and the CPEC project is in serious danger. What are Balochs' thinking However, the Baloch groups are deeply suspicious of this proposal of China. In 2019 also, such secret talks were held in Dubai which failed. There are deep differences among the Baloch groups regarding direct talks with China. The Balochs demand autonomy for Balochistan and Balochistan's share in the earnings from CPEC. It is estimated that mineral resources worth about $ 6 trillion may be hidden in Balochistan, which include important elements like copper, gold and lithium. These minerals are very important for China's green technology and electric vehicle industry. Direct talks with Baloch groups will help China ensure the security of its supply chain, as well as enable long-term exploitation of these minerals while avoiding administrative hurdles.

Balochistan Liberation: How does a region become a separate country, and where does Balochistan need to apply?
Bangladesh Liberation Force- Representative AI image Baluchistan declares independence from Pakistan: During the times when the India-Pakistan tensions were on a rise, Baloch representative Mir Yar Baloch declared independence from Pakistan, citing decades of violence, enforced disappearances, and human rights violations in the region. However, the real question is, can Baluchistan declare independence from Pakistan? Moreover, how does a country declare independence. 'Tum Maroge Hum Neklengy, Hum Nasal Bachany Nekly Hain, Aao Hamara Sath Do. Baloch people across Pakistan Occupied Balochistan are up on streets and this is their national verdict that Balochistan Is Not Pakistan and world can't be a silent spectator any more,' he said in his post on X. The leader also urged Indian citizens, especially media, YouTubers, and intellectuals, to avoid calling Balochs 'Pakistan's own people.' Can Baluchistan declare independence from Pakistan? As per the rules and regulations, a newly declared country is not recognized across the world until it gains United Nations (UN) membership. Without getting a recognition from UN, the cannot access global support, such as loans from the International Monetary Front (IMF) or assistance from UN institutions. Also, the official recognition by the UN is essential for a new country to be treated as a legitimate member of the international community. Therefore, Baluchistan's declaration of independence will be invalid without international support. Pak army used killer drones, rockets to target Baloch militants The Pakistan Army recently shared operation details of strikes against militants in Iran saying hideouts used by terrorist organisations, namely Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), were successfully struck in an intelligence-based operation, code named — 'Marg Bar Sarmachar', as per a report by news agency IANS. Pakistan: Suicide bomber targets children's school bus – DW – 05/21/2025
Authorities in Pakistan are investigating the circumstances of a suspected suicide attack that killed at least four children in the insurgency-hit Balochistan province. A suicide bomber targeted a bus carrying school children in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, killing at least four children, authorities said on Wednesday. Two adults — the bus driver and his assistant — also lost their lives in the attack, which took place in the restive province's Khuzdar district. What do we know about the attack? The bus was headed to a military-run school at the time of the attack. Around 40 students were in the bus at the time. Security forces quickly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area as the victims were taken to nearby hospitals. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. "The initial probe suggests it was a suicide bombing," Yasir Iqbal Dashti, a senior local government official in Khuzdar district, told the AFP news agency. No group has claimed responsibility for the bombing. Pakistan: What's behind the Balochistan armed insurgency? The Pakistani military has released a statement blaming India for the attack. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also accused India of involvement, without providing any evidence to support the claim. He vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. There was no immediate comment from New Delhi. Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors are already running high following their recent dayslong military confrontation in which both countries launched missiles and drones on one another . Both New Delhi and Islamabad then agreed to a ceasefire. Kashmiris struggle to make their voices heard To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video What's the situation in Balochistan? Balochistan is the largest province by area in Pakistan, but is sparsely populated by around 9 million Balochs. The Baloch, a minority Sunni Muslim ethnic group, say they face discrimination and exploitation by the central government. They point to the community being among the poorest in the country despite Balochistan boasting vast natural mineral resources such as gold, diamonds, silver and copper. The province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, has witnessed a separatist insurgency for decades, with militants often targeting security forces as well as foreign nationals. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) is the most active militant group in the region. It blew up a railway track and took passengers from a train hostage in March, killing 31. The security situation in the province has worsened this year as several Baloch separatist groups announced the formation of a common armed front in March. Edited by: Kieran Burke
