The Best LA Brunch Spots to Try This Spring

Stop me if you've heard this one before: it's Sunday, it's 11 a.m., and you're looking for a brunch spot that isn't too crowded and doesn't serve the same tired assortment of eggs, bacon, and waffles. With spring around the corner, it's the perfect time to change up the usual brunch routine and treat yourself to something new. Whether you're in the mood for an outdoor setting, inventive cocktails, or even a DJ-fueled Mexican meal, these restaurants offer up a fresh take on brunch in an often over-saturated market. And don't worry — most of them serve until 3p.m., so there's no need to set an early alarm. Linden Drawing inspiration from New York City's Linden Boulevard connecting Brooklyn and Queens, Linden boasts a tapestry of New York City, Jewish and Caribbean flavors. Try the Baltimore Benny, a crab cake over house-made biscuits alongside a soft poached egg and old bay hollandaise. For something sweet, go for the guava and cheese blintzes, a fusion of creamy, tangy, and fruity flavors wrapped in crepes. Great WhiteWhile Great White has locations in West Hollywood, Larchmont, and Brentwood, head to the Venice Beach location for a classic all-day brunch just steps from the beach. Begin with their signature Banana Bread, served with whipped honeycomb butter and Maldon sea salt. For something more filling, the breakfast burrito, complete with scrambled eggs, Oaxaca cheese, bacon, chipotle aioli, and tater tots, is a crowd favorite. Stella West HollywoodTiramisu for brunch? Say less! On weekends, Stella brings an extravagant Italian brunch to West Hollywood. Start with ordering the uova e tartufo, which features burrata pugliese with a black truffle seasoning. Then dive into a carbonara pizza or the spaghetti all'assassina with spicy tomato and egg yolk. Pair it with a seasonal cocktail like the lavender-infused limoncello or an Aperol sbagliato. Its Silver Lake location has numerous photo ops with one of the best outdoor patios in the city, adorned with fairy lights and lush greenery. Order an assortment of the delicata squash, lettuce cups with poached shrimp and calamari, and house-made French toast. Finish it off with the melt-in-your-mouth double chocolate cake, layered with a rich chocolate pudding and hazelnut brittle. Be sure to reserve in advance — tables fill up quickly. Dante Beverly HillsWhat better way to spend a spring morning than a meal on the rooftop of the Maybourne Hotel? This iconic New York City haunt brings its signature cocktails and wood-fired fare all the way to Beverly Hills. Dante's weekend menu features freshly shucked oysters, a wood-fired steak and eggs plate, and, of course, Neapolitan-style pizza. Signature drinks include Dante's garibaldi, made with Campari and fluffy orange juice, and the breakfast martini, a citrusy mix of Bombay Sapphire, café silica marmalade, dry curaçao, and citrus. MXOKnown primarily as a Mexican steakhouse, MXO by Chef Wes Avila turns up the volume at brunch with a live DJ spinning '90s beats in an alfresco setting. Walk across the glass-floor entrance above a cactus garden before indulging in churro French toast, puerto nuevo lobster soft scramble, or yellow corn pancakes with whipped butter and fruit compote. View the to see embedded media. RYLABrunch at RYLA, helmed by husband-and-wife chef duo Ray Hayashi and Cynthia Hetlinger, is not to be missed. This upscale Japanese-fusion restaurant features a fan-favorite tuna poke appetizer. For mains, go for the steak and eggs or the Japanese pancake topped with fresh blueberries and maple syrup. Other standouts include the pork belly eggs benedict, and the crispy-yet-pillowy Hong Kong French toast. Be sure to snag a seat on the outdoor patio or by the stunning, dimly lit cocktail bar. While you'll find staples like avocado toast and ricotta pancakes, the real stars are the pesto gnocchi with crispy potatoes and the rucola salad dressed in apple cider vinaigrette. Its cozy setting — complete with an olive tree — makes it a perfect spot for a weekend catch-up. Republique Housed in a medieval-style dining room built by Charlie Chaplin in 1928, République is a well-known Hollywood gem offering a French dining experience in a brick-and-ironwork setting. The weekend menu is just as impressive — start with the fresh baguette and gioella ricotta toast. Then opt for the regular breakfast, featuring organic eggs and a generous slab of bacon. While weekend waits can be long, the extra 30 minutes are well worth it. View the to see embedded media. Fig at the FairmontLocated at the Fairmont Miramar, an 1800s hotel just steps from Santa Monica's Beach Park, Fig offers a farm-to-table brunch in a plant-filled space. Indulge in rosemary fries with avocado ranch, Nutella french toast, and a red velvet waffle. Guests can also enjoy seafood options, artisanal pastries, and signature cocktails, all crafted with locally sourced ingredients. The Butcher's Daughter This New York transplant, with locations in West Hollywood and Venice, serves up a 100% vegetarian brunch menu. Highlights include warm cheddar jalapeño biscuits and a mushroom, quinoa and beet burger. Don't miss the brunch pizza with spinach, Impossible sausage, caramelized onions, mozzarella thyme and béchamel. Top it off with a mimosa flight with your choice of four juices. View the to see embedded media. Good StuffFor front-row views of beach volleyball, skateboarders, and morning newspaper readers, Good Stuff's location in Hermosa Beach is hard to beat. It's best to order casual here: start with the Good Stuff breakfast, featuring eggs any style with applewood smoked bacon or sausage. Then dive into the vegan avocado wrap or the California quesadilla. Don't skip the homemade brownie topped with vanilla ice cream before heading out for a stroll on The Strand. Never Miss a Beat! Think of these individuals as the predominant characters in your favorite TV show, with the season premiere airing on Thursday. On this list are All-Stars, prospects and some players you've maybe never heard of, as well as owners, managers, front-office execs and four guys named Jackson (that's one more than last year). The hope is that this list helps you sort out what to know and whom to care about as the 2025 MLB season begins. Read the full list: Nos. 50-26 and Nos. 25-1. No one celebrates Opening Day like Cincinnati Reds fans. Reds supporters came out in full force Thursday ahead of the team's first game of the season. The Reds will take on the San Francisco Giants at 4:10 p.m. ET. Hunter Greene will get the start for Cincinnati. Your yearly reminder that nobody does Opening Day like Cincinnati. — Cincinnati Reds (@Reds) March 27, 2025 We're just an hour away from the start of Opening Day. The New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers will kick things off. Freddy Peralta will take the mound for Milwaukee. He'll oppose Yankees starter Carlos Rodón. BP in the Boogie Down. #RepBX — New York Yankees (@Yankees) March 27, 2025 Milwaukee Brewers star outfielder Christian Yelich paid tribute to late broadcaster Bob Uecker on Opening Day. Yelich showed up to the ballpark wearing a suit jacket that reminded fans of Uecker's outfit in "Major League." Thinking of Ueck on #OpeningDay 💙💛 — MLB (@MLB) March 27, 2025 Uecker, who spent six seasons in the majors, was the Brewers' primary radio broadcaster from 1971 to 2024. Uecker died in January. He was 90. Pittsburgh Pirates pitching phenom Paul Skenes is more than ready to make his first Opening Day start. Skenes arrived for Thursday's game against the Miami Marlins in a full suit. His tie, however, is what really brought the whole outfit together. Skenes opted for a black tie with a repeating skull and bones logo on it. It's a fitting design as the Pirates starter prepares to kick off the season. Paul Skenes is wearing a skull and crossbones tie for his #OpeningDay start 👀 — MLB (@MLB) March 27, 2025 Boston Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell will start at second base and hit sixth in his MLB debut. Campbell, one of the team's top prospects, made the Red Sox after a lengthy camp battle. While Campbell's roster spot was known for a few days, the Red Sox released footage Thursday of Campbell receiving the news he would open the year in the majors. The moment KC found out: — Red Sox (@RedSox) March 27, 2025 Campbell was considered a consensus top-10 prospect entering the 2025 MLB season. Rejoice, fantasy managers, because two players whose Opening Days were in jeopardy are in the lineup. First basemen Vinnie Pasquantino and Christian Walker will start Thursday. Pasquantino will serve as the Kansas City Royals' designated hitter against the Cleveland Guardians. He hitting in the third spot of the lineup. Pasquantino's Opening Day status was in question due to a hamstring issue. He believes he is healthy enough to play first base, but the team didn't want to take any chances with an off day Friday. Walker will play first base and hit fourth in his Houston Astros debut. Walker, who signed with the team in the offseason, sustained an oblique injury that threatened to keep him out of the lineup. He was able to recover in time and will get the start against New York Mets pitcher Clay Holmes on Thursday. Happy Opening Day, baseball fans. On what should be a joyous day for fans of most teams, Cleveland Guardians fans already received some unfortunate news. Opening Day starting pitcher Tanner Bibee was scratched from Thursday's start due to food poisoning. The team will instead turn to Ben Lively to start on Opening Day. Bibee originally received the honor after putting up a 3.47 ERA with the team last season. Bibee could return to action following the team's off day. The Guardians are now listing their Saturday and Sunday starting pitchers as "TBD," suggesting Bibee could still pitch in the opening series if he recovers from his illness. Here's how the Guardians will line up without Bibee on Thursday: Good opportunity to go 1-0 today.#GuardsBall — Cleveland Guardians (@CleGuardians) March 27, 2025 #OpeningDay is in the air! — MLB (@MLB) March 27, 2025 This time last year, many in the baseball industry knew who Jackson Merrill was. Having been selected by the San Diego Padres in the 2021 MLB Draft, the then-20-year-old was considered a top prospect and a rising star to keep an eye on. Even so, the player himself wasn't sure when or even if he'd get his opportunity to break out. But sometimes a team need creates an individual opportunity, and that's what developed last spring in front of the former first-round pick. The 2024 Padres needed a center fielder, and so, with very few options in sight, they looked to Merrill to make a massive change during spring training: Move from shortstop, where he had played his entire career, to a new position in center.
