Look inside Wales' first Banana Tree restaurant
The beloved southeast Asian kitchen chain Banana Tree is set to spice up Cardiff this summer with a June launch at St David's shopping centre. Located in Mill Lane in The Hayes, Banana Tree introduces various cuisines, offering hearty delights such as Katsu Curry, Beef Rendang, Pad Thai and Gochujang Chicken. The restaurant chain's journey began over 30 years ago with its first restaurant in London, building up a reputation for fiery flavours and warm service, and it has only grown ever since, with locations all around the UK. Other stores set to open at the centre include Swatch, which will have its only standalone store in Wales at the shopping centre. Cardiff St David's centre director Helen Morgan said: "We're pleased to announce more new names and upsized stores at St David's. 2,000 curries being given away as new restaurant opens in Cardiff The opening celebrations kick off early Banana Tree, the Southeast Asian restaurant, is to open its first-ever Welsh location, in the heart of Cardiff. To celebrate, they're giving away 2,000 free Katsu curries (or Pad Thais). Cardiff's Banana Tree officially opens on Monday, June 2, in t Mill Lane. It will be the brand's biggest restaurant to date with seating for 249 inside and 38 outside. The new Banana Tree has been designed with a vibrant decor, and a menu that spans Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The opening celebrations kick off early, as guests can book in for the restaurant's Soft Launch, which offers guests 50% off all meals between May 30 and June 1. The seatings are limited. The festivities will officially kick off with 2,000 free Katsu dishes available to those who sign up and book via the website. You can switch it for Chicken or Tofu Pad Thai, a recipe first created by the founder's mum over 30 years ago. Banana Tree's signature Tuk Tuk will be zooming through the streets of Cardiff between 5 and 6 June.
