Man held for raping teen in Mayurbhanj
Balasore: Police on Friday arrested a 23-year-old man for raping a 12-year-old girl in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday evening.
According to the complaint, the survivor who is a Class VI student, had been living with her mother in a rented house.

Her mother, a daily wage labourer, had gone to work on Thursday morning.
Around 3pm, the accused entered the house under the pretext of charging his mobile phone. When the girl refused, he forcibly entered the house, assaulted and allegedly raped her. Before fleeing, he threatened to kill her and her mother if she disclosed the crime. After the mother returned home, the traumatised girl narrated her ordeal, following which a written complaint was lodged.
Inspector Barini Das said the survivor was taken for a medical examination and counselling. "Appropriate legal procedures under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act have been initiated," he added.
