Chinese, Mozambican hospitals hold remote medical consultation on complex cases
MAPUTO, April 21 (Xinhua) -- A successful international remote medical consultation was held Monday between West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Maputo Central Hospital in Mozambique, as part of ongoing medical cooperation under the 25th Chinese medical team in the country. The session brought together specialists in surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine from both hospitals. Participants included Chinese experts from West China Hospital, members of the Chinese medical team stationed in Mozambique, and department heads from surgery, orthopedics, and neurosurgery on the Mozambican side. Four medical cases were reviewed during the consultation, with discussions centering on diagnosis, treatment strategies, surgical challenges, and constraints in medical resources. "This is a very important opportunity for us," said Barnabe Antonio Deuasse, director of the orthopaedics department of Maputo Central Hospital, adding that the consultations not only provide access to modern medical insights but also practical solutions for managing complex cases amid resource constraints. "It's encouraging to know we can count on a second opinion and expert support when faced with difficult situations. We are always ready to collaborate and present cases for further discussion... We hope there will be more in the future," said Barnabe. The session concluded with remarks by Atilio Morais, chief of surgery at Maputo Central Hospital, who underscored the value of such exchanges in enhancing clinical expertise and strengthening international medical cooperation.

Young's Jersey Dairy changes Easter Egg Hunt due to rising egg prices
Mar. 26—Young's Jersey Dairy's annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 20 will have a new twist due to the high demand and cost of eggs in the local community. Instead of hand-dying more than 10,000 hard-boiled eggs for the hunt, the business will use plastic eggs. "While we know our classic hard-boiled eggs are our tradition, we feel this is the best choice this year," said Young's CIEIO John Young. The average price of a dozen eggs hit about $5.90 in February 2025, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In February 2024, a dozen of eggs cost about $3. This is the first time in 41 years that Young's is using plastic eggs. Each egg will be filled with a ticket for a free ride on Cowtherine's Carousel, which can be used any time the business is open. Since they are not purchasing 10,000 eggs, Young's is donating $1,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank in Springfield and $1,500 to The Foodbank in Dayton. Young said they are expecting to bring back hard-boiled eggs for the 2026 hunt. ------ MORE DETAILS Young's Jersey Dairy's 42nd Annual Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 2 p.m. for children four and younger, followed by those between the ages of five and seven at 2:20 p.m. and ending with those between eight and 10 at 2:40 p.m. Barnabe will be in attendance for photos. DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local farm is breaking more than 40 years of tradition due to the community demand for eggs. Young's Jersey Dairy annually hid over 10,000 real, hand-dyed eggs on the farm for its Easter Sunday Egg Hunt. This year, it is taking a temporary detour. For the first time ever, the farm will use plastic eggs instead. Each egg will have a ticket for a free ride on Cowtherine's Carousel, redeemable on any visit. Lawmakers look for ways to drop the price of eggs When asked about the choice to change, John Young, the farm's CIEIO, joked about having the farm's mascot stand guard. 'We thought about having Barnabe guard our 10,000 real eggs 24 hours a day, but this seemed like a better approach,' said Young. 'While we know our classic hard-boiled eggs are our tradition, we feel this is the best choice this year.' This year's hunt will be on Sunday, April 20. It will have three sections: 2 p.m. for kids ages 4 and under. 2:20 p.m. for kids ages 5 to 7. 2:40 p.m. for kids ages 8 to 10. Instead of buying the 10,000 eggs to hard boil, the farm will give money to charity: $1,500 to The Foodbank in Dayton and $1,500 to Second Harvest Food Bank in Springfield.
