Kurdistan's Health Ministry: No CCHF cases recorded

Shafaq News/ Kurdistan Region's Minister of Health, Saman Barzanji, said on Sunday that no cases of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) have been recorded in the Region, despite outbreaks reported in some Iraqi provinces. 'The mortality rate of hemorrhagic fever ranges between 50% and 60%, as the virus causes internal bleeding and is extremely difficult to control,' Barzanji told reporters. He added that while cases were registered in previous years within the Region, they were successfully treated. "Fortunately, we currently have no cases and no suspected infections of this disease." Earlier today, Dr. Dlovan Mohammed, Director General of Health in Erbil, confirmed to Shafaq News Agency that 'no cases of hemorrhagic fever have been recorded so far,' with health committees closely monitoring the situation, especially following confirmed cases and deaths in other parts of Iraq.

Lower House speaker, Iraqi Ambassador talk cooperation

Ammon News - Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Ahmad Safadi, on Sunday discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in parliamentary areas with the Iraqi Ambassador to Jordan, Omar Ahmed Karim Barzanji. Commending the "brotherly" Jordanian-Iraqi relations, Safadi and Barzanji said the two countries should build on these "history and strong" ties to serve common interests. Speaking at the meeting, Safadi said Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, is "always keen" to enhance various aspects of cooperation with Iraq, stressing the importance of joint parliamentary coordination in serving bilateral and Arab issues. Safadi added that His Majesty has "clearly and firmly" said Jordan views Iraq's "pivotal" role in the region with importance in several positions. In this context, he referred to keenness of Jordan's various state institutions and authorities to maintain "strong" ties with Iraq, which requires mutual and continuous efforts to always explore multiple commonalities. Meanwhile, Iraqi ambassador stressed the importance of strengthening joint cooperation, especially in parliamentary affairs, and enhancing various aspects of mutual economic collaboration and cultural and educational exchange. The diplomat noted the two countries' relations are "robust and solid," adding that Iraq views Jordan a "solid and impregnable" barrier for Iraq, affirming resolute stance to foil attempts to disrupt bilateral relations, or delay their progress and development. Barzanji added that the bilateral positions have always been "firm," especially in preventing foreign interference in the two countries' affairs, especially during the war on the terrorist organization ISIS and all the dangers that faced their borders. The movie follows the story of a young child who defies cultural constraints to pursue their dream of becoming an artist. Written and directed by Rega Barzanji and produced by CC Film Production, the film was shot in the Kurdistan Region capital over 28 days. Barzanji told Rudaw this is the first time in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, that a group of Kurdish youth has produced an Arabic cinema film to international standards. He emphasized that the Iraqi actors involved in the film are well-known A-listers, not only in Iraq but across the Arab world. The film falls into the drama, family, and adventure genres, unfolding over three different time periods. It centers on Noor, the daughter of an Arab tailor, who refuses to follow in his father's footsteps. Despite his family's rejection of his artistic aspirations, Noor creates a film using modest resources and the support of his friends, ultimately entering a film competition. She disguises herself as a boy and only reveals her true identity when she is awarded. Barzanji explained that the movie carries powerful messages, encouraging viewers to chase their dreams even in the face of adversity. Shot using the high-end Arri Alexa 35 digital cinema camera and Arri Master Anamorphic lenses - the same equipment used in international blockbusters like Dunkirk and Interstellar - the film marks the first time such advanced equipment has been used in Iraq, according to Barzanji. The Kurdish director expressed pride that the film producers and 95 percent of the production staff were Kurdish. He added that skilled cinema professionals were also brought in from Iraq, as well as Bosnia, India, Iran, Lebanon and Turkey. The film saw the participation of Bosnian Director of Photography, Mirsad Herovic, renowned for his work on several international films. The production crew, including those responsible for sound and post-production, hailed from Turkey, with the film's score and soundtrack also produced there. Nadam will premiere in theaters across the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and Arab countries on April 17. The producers are also planning international screenings and a digital release.
