Clemson game won't be played this week, rescheduled

Three games into the 2025 college baseball season and we have our first game postponed due to inclement weather. Clemson baseball announced Monday that the home opener against Presbyterian, scheduled for 4 p.m. ET Wednesday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, had been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 5 at 4 p.m. The Tigers (2-1) are scheduled to face VCU at 4 p.m. Friday. It's the first of four games that Erik Bakich's team is scheduled to play in the Clemson Baseball Invitational at Doug Kingsmore Stadium -- two against VCU and two against North Carolina AT&T. Clemson opened the season at the Shriners Children's College Showdown at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas, over the weekend by beating No. 17 Oklahoma State 6-5 on Friday. They followed it up by totaling 17 hits in a 16-5 win over the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats Saturday before falling 15-5 in Sunday's finale to the Ole Miss Rebels in seven innings. Indiana State transfer outfielder Dominic Listi had a nice opening weekend for the Tigers, going 5-for-9 with seven RBIs. Cal Baptist transfer third baseman Josh Paino was 4-for-9 with five RBIs, and Cam Cannarella had four hits in the Tigers' 16-5 win Saturday. Sophomore Aidan Knaak started for the Tigers on opening day and pitched four innings, allowing four runs on five hits. He struck out seven batters and walked one. Clemson is ranked No. 8 in this week's Baseball America Top 25 poll and No. 14 In D1Baseball's rankings. The Tigers ranked No. 11 in the preseason USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, which will be updated next week.
