Stressful, joyful, fun. That's how Basetsana Maluleka best described her musical journey. Best known as Bassie, the vocalist has now officially cemented her place in the mainstream. It's been three years now since she took the leap of faith into what she's passionate about. So far, the 21-year-old has learned that 'You need to stand your ground when you want something'. From sacrificing sleep to be in studio to having her mother and siblings hold her down and support her whenever she needed it, she's living proof that it all pays off. At this year's MetroFM awards, Bassie scooped three of the biggest awards of the night with her song, Kwelanga 2.0. The song she made with M-Touch and Ranger, featuring Amaza, Zimmy, Tman Xpress and LeeMcKrazy won an award for best collaboration, best amapiano song and best music video. Her powerful vocals and genre-defining sound not only dominated the airwaves but also reaffirmed her place at the forefront of South Africa's music scene. Basetsana Maluleka, known to fans as Bassie, is a vocal sensation who rose from the streets of Windmill Park, Boksburg, to the national spotlight.
