Bashagha calls for "inclusive national project", warns of "uncertainty"
Former Prime Minister of the parallel government, Fathi Bashagha, called on Sunday for the development of 'a sincere national project that upholds the dignity of the citizen, establishes a strong state, and unites Libyans,' warning that 'Libya is being pushed toward the unknown due to senseless conflicts and narrow interests that insult the will of the people and deplete the country's wealth.'
In a recorded speech posted on his official Facebook page, Bashagha called for 'reviving dialogue and activating communication channels for eastern, western, and southern Libya,' urging all parties to free themselves from self-interest.
Bashagha said that 'indicators point to danger,' arguing that the Libyan state is threatened with division and faces the risk of collapse. He explained, 'Weapons, which are supposed to ensure security, have become tools of repression; the economy is crumbling, reserves are being depleted, and the country's resources are being drained without oversight or accountability.'
He addressed the people of Misrata, calling on the Municipal Council and all political, military, and security actors in the city to formulate a unified stance that reorganizes the internal front and rallies support behind the project of a unified state.
Bashagha also directed a message to the international community, saying: 'Libya's stability is not merely a domestic matter but a regional and international necessity.' He welcomed any international efforts that deal with the Libyan file in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect and that aim to support the Libyan people in achieving peace and stability.
