KCAU 9'S Remarkable Woman reflects on her trip to L.A.
SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — A woman that has helped her community recover from devastating floods was amazed by the other nominees for Nexstar Media's 2025 Remarkable Woman.
Terri Batschelet is KCAU 9's Remarkable Woman, and you can find more of her story here. In April, she flew to Los Angeles and met with more than 100 women from across the country to celebrate their contributions to their communities and learn who will be named the 2025 Remarkable Woman.
Batchelet enjoyed the trip and made great connections with the other nominees.
'They treated us like stars,' Batschelet said. 'We were treated very well, wonderful food, wonderful time of gathering with other women that I can learn so much from.'

Batschelet said she talked with many nominees and heard their stories but was not able to connect with the more than 100 women. She got to learn about the top 5 nominees for the 2025 Remarkable Woman on the night of the awards.
'It was actually very emotional for me because I was amazed to see the amount of talent and passion of women in that room, that were doing things for their community that were pretty remarkable.'
Batschelet said she's staying in touch with several of the women she met while in L.A.
The one-hour Remarkable Woman Special airs Saturday, May 17, at 6:00 p.m. on KCAU 9 News.
