Arizona Cardinals OL Kelvin Beachum says team must find a way to make playoffs in 2025

Kelvin Beachum says there is no room for excuses for the Cardinals in 2025. They have the talent and now have to perform. Entering the 2025 season, the Arizona Cardinals find themselves in a critical moment. Head coach Jonathan Gannon led a competitive and scrappy four-win team in 2023. In 2024, after being atop the NFC West last in the season, they faded and finished with an eight-win season. This is the year they should take the next step and make the postseason. Fans feel it is the year. Coaches feel it is the year. Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, entering his 14th NFL season and sixth with the Cardinals, didn't shy away from the topic. Appearing on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM during minicamp, he didn't shy away from what many would be afraid to say, calling it "the elephant in the room." "We've got to get things done here this year, and that's just the nature of the NFL," he said. "This is a performance-based business. This is year three of this regime. Playoffs are long overdue in some regards, and we gotta find a way." Beachum said it is something players need to be on board about. "You've got to talk about it, he said. "You can't be like, 'oh, we don't have this piece. We don't have this piece. We lack in here.' No, no, it is time out for all those things. "What is important is putting ourselves in a position to clock a ticket to be in the dance and then see what happens from there." He believes the Cardinals have the team to be able to do that this year, and he praised what general manager Monti Ossenfort did in the offseason, calling it "a superb job." "What about the offensive line? That box is checked. Well, what about the quarterback? Box is checked. What about the running back? Box is checked. Receivers, box is checked. DBs, box is checked. And then you spent a ton of money on the defensive line, and you drafted defensive line and you drafted corners. So like, what are we talking about?" He said the Cardinals can't use excuses for potential needs, whether it is at linebacker or a "somebody to take the top off" at receiver. "We've got to find a way to get it done. We've got to find a way to put ourselves in playoff contention." Beachum understands the urgency the team must have. He is entering his 14th season. He doesn't know how many seasons he has left. Will the Cardinals be up for the task? We will see early on how focused they are when the season begins. Ballers Sports Startup Raises $20M Backed By Andre Agassi, Sloane Stephens And NBA Star Tyrese Maxey, Launches Luxe Athletic Venues Nationwide

Ballers, a U.S.-based startup creating upscale indoor sports and entertainment venues, has raised $20 million in a Series A round from venture firms and a star-studded roster of professional athletes. Investors include tennis legends Andre Agassi, Kim Clijsters, and Sloane Stephens, alongside NBA star Tyrese Maxey and retired NFL safety Malcolm Jenkins, Forbes reports. The company's first 55,000-square-foot facility will open in Philadelphia next month at Battery, a mixed-use development built on the site of a former power plant in the city's Fishtown neighborhood. According to Forbes, the facility will include six pickleball courts, three padel courts, two squash courts, four golf simulators, a turf field, and a putting green with sand bunkers. Forbes says that the concept is designed for urban professionals, competitive players, and casual athletes seeking elevated recreation. Ballers was co-founded by Daniel Bassichis of Vero Capital and David Gutstadt of Good City Studio, two former Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) colleagues. According to Forbes, their vision connects hospitality, athleticism, and socialization to reflect a broader cultural trend toward lifestyle-driven venues. Bassichis has worked with athletes since 2008 when he partnered with NBA Hall of Famer David Robinson to launch Admiral Capital Group, which later became Vero Capital. His experience helped draw athlete investors including FC Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes, Arizona Cardinals lineman Beachum, and Professional Pickleball Association standout Connor Garnett, Forbes says. Sharp Alpha and RHC Group led the round, offering both capital and strategic backing to help Ballers expand into key U.S. markets. According to Forbes, the funding follows a $7 million raise that supported the construction of the Philadelphia venue. Trending: Invest where it hurts — and help millions heal:. Forbes says that some of Ballers' athlete-investors are taking an active role in shaping the brand's community presence. According to Bassichis, several players are blending philanthropy, lifestyle, and visibility with their capital commitments. "They're not just passive investors. They want to get involved. They want to help. They want to promote it," Bassichis said. "They want to weave in philanthropy and community into the investments." Maxey is set to host an event at the Philadelphia venue to support low-income families and other personal causes. Stephens will host foundation-related events and plans to sell her own beauty care line through Ballers, and Garnett will lead clinics at various future club locations, according to Forbes. Beachum, also an art collector, intends to use Ballers as a platform to display curated pieces from his addition to athlete-led initiatives, Ballers plans to monetize access through a hybrid model. Memberships will be available for those looking to use high-end gym facilities, locker rooms, and other exclusive perks. At the same time, Forbes says that the clubs will remain accessible to the public for individual court bookings, dining, and private event rentals, creating a flexible ecosystem that appeals to both casual guests and serious athletes. Ballers plans to open a second location in Boston's Seaport District in August, with Miami and Los Angeles venues scheduled by the middle of next year. Each site will replicate the flagship format, positioning the company firmly in the emerging 'sportainment' category, Forbes reports. Arizona Cardinals had a few veterans missing from first day of OTAS

Arizona Cardinals had a few veterans missing from first day of OTAS The Cardinals held their first day of voluntary OTAs. A few veterans were not present. The Arizona Cardinals began Phase 3 of the offseason program on Wednesday when they held the first of six practices for voluntary OTAs (organized team activities). Players are not required to be there, as it is still the voluntary part of the offseason. But it is always noteworthy to see which players are not present or not participating. On Wednesday, reporters were able to see the a portion of the first session of OTAs. It is the only one of the three this week that reporters could see. Most players were present an participating. Some were not there and some were working on the side. Who were they? According to Donnie Druin, the following players were not seen on the field during the open part of practice: OL Kelvin Beachum OL Hjalte Froholdt DL Calais Campbell DL Dalvin Tomlinson OLB Josh Sweat Other players were working on the side: OL Jonah Williams DL Walter Nolen When players work to the side, it is usually injury-related. Williams is coming off a season-ending knee injury. Nolen, the Cardinals' first-round pick in the 2025 draft, must be dealing with something minor. As for the others not present, sometimes it is because players are not there or it is because they are hurt. None of the players ended last season injured. Beachum (14th NFL season), Campbell (19th), Tomlinson 9th) and Sweat 8th) all have more than seven NFL seasons. Froholdt enters Year 7. Head coach Jonathan Gannon can't expect all the players to be there for voluntary work, but he wants to be aware. "So some guys are in and out, but like where it's at right now," he told reporters before practice on Wednesday. "I will say this, "I always ask them because it is voluntary, just communicate with me. Our guys have done an excellent job communicating with me, so that's good to see." So for now, there is no reason to be concerned. Beachum and Campbell do not have workout bonuses in their contract. Froholdt and Sweat each had $100,000 workout bonuses and Tomlinson has one worth $50,000, so they likley will be in the building for most of OTAs. Workout bonuses are earned based on attendance and the highest percentage allowed required for the bonus is under 85%. with five previous weeks of offseason workouts and eight practices remaining, we should expect them to be there on the field unless they are injured, and if they are injured already, that is another concern. Contract details for T Kelvin Beachum in his return to Arizona Cardinals

Contract details for T Kelvin Beachum in his return to Arizona Cardinals It took over three weeks, but Beachum finally signed his one year deal. It is worth $4 million. It was early on March 10, the first day of the legal negotiating period for unrestricted free agents, that reports came out that the Arizona Cardinals had reached agreement to re-sign Kelvin Beachum to a one-year contract. Probably due to be being busy with family activities as well as his devotion to off-field endeavors, it took 24 days for the veteran tackle to sign the contract at the team facility in Tempe with his family looking on. Since being signed as a free agent in July, 2020, Beachum has played 75 games for the Cardinals with 62 starts and has been on the field for 4,211 offensive snaps and 248 on special teams. Last season, he started 12 of the 16 games he played, mostly at right tackle because of injuries suffered by Jonah Williams. The ultimate team player and reliable producer, Beachum will be 36 on June 8 and is entering his 14th NFL season. When asked as the 2024 season was ending if he planned to continue playing, Beachum said he hoped to be back with the Cardinals and had the support of his family. 'We'll see what happens,' he said. What happened was signing a contract worth $4 million with $3.49 guaranteed. The latter includes a $1.5 million signing bonus and guaranteed base salary of $1.99 million. The remaining $510,000 is the max that can be earned in $30,000 per-game roster bonuses. The salary-cap charge is $3.97 million because $30,000 of the roster bonuses don't count against the cap this year because he missed one game last season. The 2-year contract he signed in 2023 after general manager Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon were hired was worth $5.15 million with $3.26 million guaranteed and included a $2.095 million signing bonus. For the 15 signed players with published contract details (Beachum, Zay Jones, Royce Newman, Zay Jones, Simi Fehoko, Jacoby Brissett, Dalvin Tomlinson, Josh Sweat, Baron Browning, Mykal Walker, L.J. Collier, Evan Brown, Akeem Davis-Gaither, Joey Blount, Aaron Brewer and Travis Vokolek) plus the 1-year restricted free-agent tender for Greg Dortch, the total cap hit this year is $55.445 million. We are still without official figures for the new contract for tight end Trey McBride as well as free-agent additions Calais Campbell and Jake Curhan. Prior to signing his new contract, McBride was scheduled to be paid a $5.346 million salary this year and have a cap hit of $5.786 million. That included the final year of signing bonus proration ($440,393) from his rookie deal. 6 free agents the Cardinals want to re-sign

NFL free agency will begin with March 10 when teams can officially negotiate with players whose contracts expire on March 12, the start of the new year. Until then, teams have exclusive negotiating rights with those players set to hit the open market. Arizona Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort recently said that he wants to re-sign several of their own free agents, noting the depth they provided and how some ended up starting. While we can guess who some of those players might be, Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro reported six players the team is focused on bringing back. Who are they? The Cardinals gave up their sixth-round pick to acquire him last year midseason, so naturally they will want him back. He had two sacks in the final four games, after he had worked into the playing rotation. Brown was the Cardinals' starting left guard last season, playing every game. He was steady. After playing for three teams in three seasons, he probably would like to stay put. Beachum ended up being incredibly valuable with the injuries to both Jonah Williams and Paris Johnson. He started nine games at right tackle, one as a tackle eligible and the final two games at left tackle. With Williams entering the offseason injured, Beachum would be a safe player to bring back. Collier would be returning for at least a third season. The former first-round pick was very disruptive in the second half of the season. He played only part of one game in 2023 before losing the rest of his season to a torn biceps. He had a career-high 3.5 sacks in 2024. Lopez started all 16 games he played last season and has been a solid contributor in the middle of the defensive line. Barnes gives the Cardinals a player who can start and who can also play on special teams. He has been someone to fill in for injured starters the last two seasons and play fairly effectively. If Kyzir White departs as a free agent, Barnes could move into a starting role.
