The Woodson African American Museum of Florida offered guests free admission Thursday to view the current exhibit, 'The Beacon of Hope,' a collection of works by varying artists, and to partake in family-friendly activities in celebration of the Juneteenth holiday.
'The Beacon of Hope' exhibition is inspired by Harriet Tubman's story of courage and strength. 'I can assure you that Harriet is speaking to us today, and I'd love to hear what she's saying to all of you,' said Woodson Executive Director Terri Lipsey Scott to gathered visitors.
Juneteenth is celebrated every year on June 19 to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.
