Nike names Jennifer Hartley as new chief strategy officer

Nike hired for a new C-suite position that is very similar to a role it eliminated last month. A month after Nike eliminated its chief strategy and transformation officer role, it has hired a 14-year company veteran to become its new chief strategy officer. Nike (NYSE: NKE) confirmed that Jennifer Hartley will start in her new C-suite level role this week after working as vice president of strategic enterprise capabilities for the past year. She started with Nike, according to LinkedIn, as a director of corporate strategy and development in 2011. Hartley's addition to Nike's C-suite follows several high-level management moves at the Beaverton-based apparel giant in the past few months, led in part by Elliott Hill starting as CEO in October. Nike confirmed in March that Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Daniel Heaf would leave the company and that his role would be eliminated and his teams integrated into Nike's finance department. The same day, Nike parted ways with its Chief Communications Officer KeJuan Wilkins, who was with Nike for nearly 20 years and in his role also for less than two years. Other recently departed high-ranking Nike employees include Chief Human Resources Officer Monique Matheson, who announced her retirement last fall. Earlier this year, Clare Hamill, Nike's vice president of innovation integration, also announced her retirement, continuing a series of retirements or exits by longtime employees from the brand over the last several years. Analysts have criticized these losses of institutional knowledge as Nike tries to regain its footing after four consecutive quarters of revenue declines. Hill's goals for the company he began at in 1988 are to restore its standing in sports and culture and drive new growth. Largest Footwear & Apparel Companies in Oregon & S.W.
