"King of the Hill" is a series created by Mike Jude, who is well-known for the another crude animated cartoon known to the world as "Beavis and Butthead." While "Beavis and Butthead" follows two rock-loving best friends who continually get into trouble while making fun of every genre but heavy metal, "King of the Hill" follows the life of Hank Hill, a propane salesman from Arlen, Texas. Hill and his family, Peggy (wife), Bobby (Son), and Ladybird (dog), live in the same neighborhood as best friends and neighbors Dale Gribble, Bill Dautrieve, and Boomhauer. Hank, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer often stand in the alleyway, drinking beer with one another. That is, unless they are bothered by another neighbor's foibles. When did 'King of the Hill' first come out? Judge began working on "King of the Hill," when he was busy with "Beavis and Butthead." Judge was paired with Greg Daniels, who formerly worked on "The Simpsons," to move forward after Fox had approved Judge's pitch for the show. "King of the Hill" was meant to serve as a mid-season replacement, but quickly exploded as one of the most popular shows after it debuted on Fox on Jan. 12, 1997. The series would run for 13 seasons and 259 episodes. 'King of the Hill' Cast: Who is Returning? Judge is returning not only to write and produce the revival, but he will also voice both Hank Hill and Boomhauer. Other confirmed returning cast is Kathy Najimy as Peggy, Pamela Adlon as Bobby, and Stephen Root is back as Bill Dauterive. Judge has not yet revealed how much of a part of the cast Dale Gribble will be, as voice actor Johnny Hardwick passed away in 2023, right after the revival had been announced. It would be believed that Dale will appear to some degree, as he is in the first-look image. What is the Plot of the Reboot? The "King of the Hill" revival is going to follow a clearly much older Hank Hill, as he, Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer look far older and grizzled. Dale also appears to be wearing virtual reality headset of sorts. The other known detail about the plot is that Bobby is also much older and is pursuing a career as a chef. Not much is known about the show, though there are set to be more details released soon. When Could the Show be Released? Mike Judge, and many of the other cast are expected to attend Austin's ATX TV Festival, which takes place on May 30. There, more details about the "King of the Hill" revival are going to be revealed. From multiple reports, the revival is slated for a summer release, though a concrete release date has yet to be revealed. The series will be released on Hulu, and considering the reveal event on May 30, August would be a believable release month.

King of the Hill Revival First Look Brings the Hills Into the 2020s
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors We've been waiting a couple of years now for the "King of the Hill" revival series, and now it's almost here. Today Hulu released a first look image hinting that Hank Hill - along with his family and friends - are going to be struggling with dealing with today's world in the new series. You can see the image below. First look at the 'KING OF THE HILL' revival series. Releasing this Summer on Hulu. — DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) May 14, 2025 Read More: When Does the Finale Episode of The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 Come Out? Bill Dauterive is getting food delivered from "Mega Lo Eats" - clearly a spin on delivery services like Uber Eats and GrubHub. Boomhauer appears to be scrolling through some kind of touchscreen tablet. Dale Gribble is vaping while wearing a virtual reality headset. All the while, a drone is on its way to deliver a case of Alamo beer. The only one who seems not to be partaking in any of the high-tech shenanigans is Hank, and he doesn't look very happy about what's going on around him. It will be interesting to see how Hank Hill is able to deal with modern problems. How will social media impact the boys by the fence? How did the Hills get through the pandemic? Are we going to find out what happens when Hank Hill finds one of his kids using Tinder? Or are his kids even kids anymore? What happens if someone tries to replace Hank Hill's beer with a hard seltzer? We don't know yet exactly when we can once again visit the town of Arlen, Texas, but we can expect the series to debut sometime this summer. "Beavis and Butthead" creator Mike Judge began developing "King of the Hill" while he was working on the former series, and he and Greg Daniels tackled it together after Judge pitched the series to Fox. "King of the Hill" debuted in 1997 and it didn't take long for it to become a success. It would go on to become one of the longest-running series on Fox, lasting 13 seasons and 259 episodes. Most of the original cast is expected to return for the "King of the Hill" revival while there are some unfortunate exceptions. The late Johnny Hardwick voiced Dale Gribble in the original series.
