Influencer claims to have nailed the secret recipe for McDonald's McChicken sauce

An Australian health coach claims to have cracked the secret recipe for McDonald's McChicken burger sauce and it only involves four ingredients. Bec Hardgrave, a Brisbane-based content creator, regularly shares recipe and food ideas on her Instagram and TikTok. A recent video showcases her take on the McDonald's McChicken burger sauce which she said she has spent s considerable time perfecting - explaining in the video that she'd finally 'nailed the recipe'. Bec confirmed that her creation 'actually tastes like the real thing'. The four ingredients the content creator suggests are needed to achieve the distinct McDonald's McChicken burger sauce flavour are mayonnaise, dry mustard, onion powder and salt. In the video she said: 'Honestly I'm still shocked at how close this tasted like the real thing.' Bec also provided the exact recipe details in the caption of the post. Her recipe recommends starting with one cup of mayonnaise in a mixing jug before adding a teaspoon of dry mustard, followed by half a tablespoon of onion powder and half a teaspoon of salt. Bec then hand-mixed the ingredients together until they were completely combined to create the sauce. The clip then shows her pouring the homemade condiment into a squeezy sauce bottle and storing it in the fridge to be used as needed. Although the fitness coach didn't reference specific brands in her recipe, the products that she used were Hellman's Light Mayonnaise, Keen's Mustard Powder, Coles Onion Powder and Woolworths Essentials Iodised Table Salt. In the video Bec said she found that most people assumed the sauce used on the McDonald's McChicken burger was just plain mayonnaise but instead that this is not the case. She added: 'I've gotten so many comments about this saying it's just mayonnaise... But if you're a sauce connoisseur like me, you'd know that mayo alone does not taste that good.' The health coach also provided the nutritional information for her sauce recipe. She wrote that it contained: 'Calories per 20g: 53 Protein: 0.1g Carbs: 1.2g Fats: 5.2g' Excited McDonald's showed their excitement in the comments section of the post. One person wrote: 'Need to give this a go!' One revealed that they had been 'teased' for referring to it as 'McChicken sauce', while their friends insisted it was 'just mayo'. However, other comments disagreed – passionately arguing that McChicken sauce was just mayonnaise – but that the trick was to work out which brand. One person wrote: 'McChicken sauce is legit just Hellman's.' Another said: 'Kewpie Mayo is an exact replica of McChicken sauce.' This isn't the first time Bec tried to recreate the fast food giant's popular item. She previously recreated her own version of the popular McChicken burger using budget ingredients purchased from Aldi. In her chicken burger video, Bec said: 'These are super quick and easy to make I just chucked the chicken in the air fryer, assembled the burgers and there you go. 'It's the perfect thing when you feel like Macca's, you have to try these.' The fitness coach used Aldi's Farmwood brand Chicken Breast Schnitzels, sesame seed brioche burger buns, Colway Light Squeezy Mayonnaise and a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce. She cooked the chicken schnitzels in the air fryer until they were crispy then layered them on the burger buns with a small handful of lettuce and a squeeze of mayonnaise. Using Bec's recipe, each burger is only 380 calories and contains 18.2 grams of protein, 11.9 grams of fat and 48 grams of carbohydrates.
