Veterans relay carrying flag across the country to pass through Knoxville
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Twelve military veterans are running the American Flag from San Diego to Washington, D.C. They are scheduled to pass through Knoxville Thursday night.
The Old Glory Ultra Relay is set to pass through Knoxville on Thursday around 8:30 p.m. near Turkey Creek. State Senator Becky Duncan-Massey asked people to line the street near 10950 Parkside Drive in Knoxville to support the runners.

The veterans are trying to raise $1 million for veterans' health and set a world record. So far, they have raised nearly $300,000.
'The relay will challenge the limits of human endurance, traversing diverse terrains and weathering all conditions, day and night,' the group's website explains. 'That's right! The flag never stops moving.'
As of around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, the relay team is between Crossville and Crab Orchard. Check their progress on their website.
