Hawks & Spartans X 2 Titles
PERU, NY – The 2025 Section 7 Track & Field championships would crown 4 teams champs this year for the first time. The track & field team finals would be split up into two classifications, for each of the boys and girls divisions. The host school Peru, would beat out Beekmantown and Plattsburgh High in Class 'B' for both the boys and girls titles. While it was also a sweep for Saranac in Class 'C', again for the boys and girls once again. Sweenor's Night, Saranac's Win
PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Beekmantown Eagle, and Saranac Spartan boy's hockey teams picked up Section 7 semifinal wins on Thursday night to advance to next week's championship game. Fourth seeded Saranac Lake Placid would score first, taking a 1-0 lead against top seeded Beekmantown. The Eagles, and most specifically, sophomore Edward Sweenor would turn the tables in the next SWEENOR period, when he scores four straight goals for a natural hat trick, and then some. Beekmantown wins the game, 5-2. In the other semifinal, Plattsburgh was playing Saranac in the 3 verse 2 match up. After a scoreless first period, the Spartans would tally twice in the second, and add one more in the third for the 3-0 shut out win. Highlights from both games, in the video above. Eagles 1 of 4 Left NY
SARANAC LAKE, NY – The Beekmantown girl's hockey team is Final Four bound. The eagles won a New York state tournament quarterfinal game on Monday night, beating Potsdam 3-2 in overtime. Amaya Abellard would score a big-time goal to give Beekmantown a 1-0 lead in the first period. 5 minutes later, Potsdam's Brynlee Desrosiers would tie the game 1-1. In the second period the Sandstoners would take their first lead of the game, on a score from Levi Forney, 2-1 after two periods. In the third, Beekmantown would save their season on a roof top score from Adyson Campbell tying the game 2-2. That sent the game into overtime, where Meegan Burdo would extend their season to the final four on a game winning goal.
