Rumor Roundup: WWE fans, Travis Scott flaking, Asuka, AEW injuries, more!
Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill. Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it's just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt. Rumors for the Day: On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that people within WWE have actually suggested asking fans not to swear during TV shows. He would later add, however, that he doesn't expect it will actually happen. Jonathan Coachman is claiming on Behind the Turnbuckle that he is hearing Travis Scott 'flaked' on doing the tag team match with John Cena at Money in the Bank and he hasn't been training with Booker T. Per Fightful Select, there were creative discussions regarding Asuka at the beginning of the year but that was considered too early and it's still uncertain when she'll be cleared to return. The Observer notes that there are a lot of 'banged up' wrestlers in AEW coming out of Double or Nothing, including both the Young Bucks. PW Insider claims the decision on who should win the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Final between Will Ospreay and Hangman Page wasn't finalized until hours before the show. They apparently went back-and-forth on it quite a bit before settling on Page. Fightful adds that the two wrestlers themselves pushed for the other to win. For what it's worth, Mick Foley told The Wrestling Classic that he had a secret meeting with MJF about a retirement match last year that never came to fruition. Foley said he loved the ideas MJF had for what would have been a six-week program. Despite this, she has been surprisingly absent from WWE television. After earning an opportunity to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship with Lyra Valkyria, she was written off in favor of Becky Lynch making her surprise in-ring return. More Pro Wrestling: Former WWE Star Reacts to Backstage Situation That May Have Led to Release Needless to say, fans want to see The Role Model back in the ring as soon as possible. However, one former WWE personality doesn't think she belongs there. "Bayley is done!" Coachman declared. "She's washed up! She's Boring! She's nothing! She's nothing anymore!" Coachman went on to question whether anything would feel different if Bayley left the roster, and that he was never a fan. Jonathan Coachman says Bayley is washed up 'She's boring. (Behind The Turnbuckle) — Vick (@Vick_8122) May 8, 2025 "When I was in the WWE for 13 years, there would be certain people – and she'd be one of them – that you'd walk around backstage going, 'How in the world is she winning the Royal Rumble?' Or 'How in the world is he doing that?'" "To me, I've never, and I think she's a very sweet person, but there are a lot of sweet people. But I just don't ever think that she's sold a ticket." More Pro Wrestling: Big Name Could Make WWE Debut At Backlash: Report Naturally, this justifiably led to a massive backlash from the pro wrestling fandom, with multiple people online defending Bayley and slamming Coachman. "Mercedes and Bayley helped sell out the Barclays," one fan explained. "Bayley has sold out her own merch and people would go to shows to see HER. I can't believe a dude that NO ONE, in the HISTORY OF EVER, bought a single solitary ticket to see could try to speak on her legacy." Not cool," said another fan. "Of course he's entitled to his opinion but Bayley is damn great. And let's be real, her story with Damage CNTRL and Iyo specifically last year was fantastic. She was also cooking recently til they shoehorned Becky into Mania." Nah man. Not cool. Of course he's entitled to his opinion but Bayley is damn great. Bayley has had a legendary career and remains one of the best wrestlers to step into the ring. Bayley is a four-time world champion with WWE and is the first-ever WWE Women's Grand Slam Champion. She is, without a doubt, one of the best to ever do it, and deserves to be respected as such.
