How a Facebook Marketplace meet-up at a McDonald's led to this wild crash
A shocking crash believed to have arisen from a botched Facebook Marketplace deal has been captured on dashcam.
The incident unfolded along Main North Road in Nailsworth north of Adelaide about 10pm on Monday.
Dramatic footage two vehicles travelling side-by-side before the silver hatchback suddenly swerved and hit the blue sedan twice.
The hatchback then veered off the road and clipped a light pole before it slammed into a fire hydrant
The impact left the vehicle severely damaged as water gushed from the burst water main.
The blue sedan fled the scene without stopping.
South Australia Police have since spoken to the 21-year-old female hatchback driver.
She told 7News that she and a friend had arranged to meet a group of strangers, who arrived in the blue vehicle, at a nearby McDonalds.
It's understood the group agreed to buy a pair of shoes from her friend, who entered their vehicle to attend a nearby ATM before things took a turn for the worst.
The woman claimed she believed her friend was being threatened and followed the car along Main North Rd.
Witness Belal Elmawey, who was in the car behind, rushed to assist the woman and her passengers following the collision.
He described the incident as 'absolute carnage', claiming the purported buyers threatened to stab the friend unless he complied with their demands.
No serious injuries were reported.
Police confirmed to Daily Mail Australia on Monday night that an investigation is underway.
No arrests or charges have been laid.
