GSFL 2025: Railways power forward Hayden Parker dominates with 10 goals in demolition of Denmark-Walpole
Railways made it four straight wins with a dominant performance over Denmark-Walpole on the back of a 10-goal haul from key forward Hayden Parker at Keep the Sheep Stadium on Saturday.
Parker was clinical in attack as he powered
his side to a 116-point demolition of the Magpies
.
The Tigers had seven goals on the board at quarter time and by three quarter time the game was done with the home side 74 points in the clear.
The Magpies didn't score in the final term as the Tigers coasted to a 23.18 (156) to 6.4 (40) triumph.
Parker won the Belt-Up Round ball as best on ground for his 10 goals in attack while Coen Marwick and player-coach Bodhi Stubber each chipped in with four goals.
Young trio Hayden Leo, Lucas Smart and Lachie Cale were impressive.
Stubber said he was happy with the Tigers' game, with the team gaining some confidence ahead of their big clash with defending premiers Albany this Saturday and coming through unscathed in terms of injuries.
'I feel like we really set ourselves up early on and were able to keep it going,' he said.
'Our forward line was obviously firing and we could get good service to the midfield.
'It was good for us to be able to put in a solid four-quarter effort because we're coming up against the benchmark next weekend in the Sharks, they're the team to beat, so it's good for us to come into it knowing we can play that kind of game.'
Tyler Stone was a one-man show for the Magpies, kicking all six of his side's goals.
Tait Hartfield, Brody Hickey and Ryan Hick also toiled hard in defeat.
Magpies coach Brad Nisbett said the team wasn't going to dwell on the loss.
'It's never great to come off with that kind of losing margin, but we take the small positives from it and keep going, we don't harp on it too long,' he said.
'Our second quarter was pretty good, we picked it up and got it back together a bit.
'Denmark has a bit of a history of those kind of games, which isn't good, but the boys can move on from it pretty well and keep their heads up.'
Banjo Watkins went down in the first quarter with a shoulder injury and didn't return and Nisbett said it remains to be seen whether he will be back for this weekend's clash against Royals.
'It'll be a big game for us next week, we haven't beaten Royals in a long time, so we'll be looking to bring out some fight for that game for sure,' he said.
