1 arrested, 1 hospitalized following stabbing in Bemidji

May 31—BEMIDJI — One person has been arrested and another has been hospitalized following the report of a stabbing at a home on East Avenue in Bemidji on Friday night. According to a release from Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin, at 11 p.m. on Friday, May 30, officers and Beltrami County Deputies responded to a house along East Avenue on the report that a person had just been stabbed inside the home. As officers arrived on the scene, they learned that the suspect had fled on foot. A perimeter was established, and a Code Red notification was sent to residents in the area, the release said. After the area was searched extensively by officers, deputies and a K9 unit, one suspect was taken into custody. "Through further investigation, this appears to be an isolated incident and there does not appear to be a threat to the public," the release said. The victim was transported to the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. This case remains under investigation and the names of those involved will be held pending further investigation. Those with information about the crime can report it and stay anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at by calling the toll-free phone number 1-800-222-TIPS, or by using the P3 Tip Submit app. "All contact with Crime Stoppers is anonymous and you may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000," the release said. "The Bemidji Police Department encourages you to submit information to Crime Stoppers so you are free of retribution and remain safe while 'doing the right thing.'"
