LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – The Lynchburg School Board will meet on April 8th at 5 p.m. to discuss the future of T.C. Miller Elementary School and listen to the community's opinions. Interim superintendent Dr. Ben Copeland presented a four-phase project to help with elementary efficiency. In phase one, which would be implemented next year, would close T.C. Miller as a K-5 school and repurpose it to serve early elementary education. Those zoned to T.C Miller would move to Perrymount or R.S. Payne. It would also rezone the Birchwood, Florida Ave, and the Winston ridge neighborhoods One month until Real ID enforcement: what Virginians need to know 'We have to make some decisions, we have to move forward on a plan. So I think the plan that Dr. Copland came up with, although it causes some pain for some people, I believe it gets us moving in the right direction to become fiscally responsible,' said Daryl Conner, a board member. Dr. Copeland says this transition could save the district $1 billion. These changes would be implemented in the 2025 to 2026 school year. Phases two through four would take place until 2030.
