Berea man allegedly shot man, watched him collapse before driving away

BEREA, Ky. (FOX 56) — A man wanted in connection with a shooting Monday evening in Berea has been located. A criminal complaint showed that Berea officers responded to reports of shots fired around 8:19 p.m. Monday near Baldwin and West Jefferson streets. Police said they found a man shot in the chest. He was reportedly rushed to Saint Joseph Berea Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Around 11 p.m. on Monday, the department said on Facebook that Steven Gerlaugh, 75, was a person of interest in connection with the shooting. Court records noted that police recovered surveillance footage of the shooting, which allegedly showed Gerlaugh in the driver's seat of his Toyota Camry speaking with the victim, Thomas Rison, 42, who was near the driver's side window.
