Two men arrested, heroin, cocaine, illegal firearm seized in North Adams investigation

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – A joint investigation led to the arrest of two Springfield men earlier this week on numerous drug trafficking and firearms charges following a motor vehicle stop and the execution of search warrants. Springfield Police arrest three, recover large capacity firearm following armed robbery and assault According to police, on Tuesday, May 6, officers from the North Adams Detective unit had been conducting surveillance on 115 Bradley Street in North Adams, where they believed narcotics were being distributed. Observations from that investigation led to a motor vehicle stop within the city, where the driver, Duane Carr, was arrested for operating without a license. During the stop, officers deployed K9 Rocky to inspect the vehicle. The dog alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting a search. One passenger, later identified as Jossue Burgos, attempted to leave the scene on foot but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. Police say heroin and cocaine were found on Burgos, and additional crack cocaine and a digital scale were recovered from the vehicle. The investigation expanded later that day as detectives coordinated with Pittsfield Police to secure two rooms at the Berkshire Inn in Pittsfield, where Carr and Burgos were allegedly staying.
