TEHRAN, June 5 (Bernama-IRNA) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have reiterated their countries' unwavering support for the Palestinian people, stressing the urgent need for Muslim nations to work together in pursuit of peace, stability and justice. In a phone conversation on Thursday in conjunction with Eid al-Adha, Anwar praised Iran's firm stance in defending the Palestinian cause and strongly condemned the Israeli regime's ongoing atrocities, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported. He said Malaysia would spare no effort in supporting initiatives to end the violence in Gaza and to restore peace and security to its people, reaffirming Kuala Lumpur's commitment to championing the rights of the oppressed on the international stage.

(Photo Credit IRNA) BANDAR ABBAS (Iran), April 28 (Bernama-IRNA) -- The governor-general of Hormozgan Province Mohammad Ashuri said on Sunday night that the number of casualties in the Shahid Rajaee Port incident has risen to 40 dead and over 1,000 injured, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported. Among the injured, 194 people remain hospitalised, while the rest have been discharged. Nine injured victims were transferred to hospitals outside Hormozgan Province for specialised treatment. bootstrap slideshow A massive explosion ravaged Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar Abbas on Saturday. Only one of the 23 piers of the port sustained significant damage. Minister of Interior Eskandar Momeni, appointed by President Masoud Pezeshkian to oversee the site and the ongoing relief efforts, said on Sunday night that the cause of this incident is under investigation and that a committee is collecting evidence related to the explosion. He assured the Iranian public that those responsible would be held accountable. Momeni also said that rescue and firefighting teams responded promptly to extinguish the fire and mitigate its spread. During a cabinet meeting on Sunday, First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref said that the investigation into the explosion's causes is being followed very seriously. He promised that the details of the incident would be communicated to the Iranian people as soon as they are available. Aref also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and sympathy for the injured. In response to this incident, President Pezeshkian's cabinet declared Monday a nationwide day of mourning.

TEHRAN, April 27 (Bernama-IRNA) -- Top Iranian and United States (US) negotiators have concluded a third round of indirect talks in Oman, focusing on Iran's nuclear programme and the lifting of sanctions, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, while US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff represented the American side. The talks, held at both technical and high-level formats, were facilitated by Omani mediators a week after a second round in Rome that both sides described as 'constructive'. bootstrap slideshow Majid Takht-e-Ravanchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister for political affairs and Kazem Gharibabadi, deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, engaged with Michael Anton, head of policy planning at the US State Department, in expert-level discussions. Speaking to reporters after the talks, Araqchi expressed satisfaction with the progress, while stressing that further examination of outstanding issues was necessary. 'The negotiations are proceeding well and satisfactorily, in a good atmosphere, with both sides being serious,' he said. Araqchi thanked the Omani government and its foreign minister for facilitating the discussions in a calm and constructive setting, noting that the latest round was 'much more serious' than previous meetings, with both sides engaging in more detailed and technical discussions. He said the discussions required a high level of precision, with the two sides exchanging written opinions several times, reflecting the seriousness of both parties. Araqchi added that the negotiating teams would return to their respective capitals to further evaluate the issues ahead of the next meeting, tentatively scheduled for the following Saturday.
