Sarah Silverman reveals heartbreaking story about her late brother
Sarah Silverman has revealed a tragic family story. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Silverman spoke about her new comedy special, 'PostMortem' and how her family's past has shaped some of her standup work. 'My dad had a heartbreaking childhood,' Silverman told the publication. 'His dad beat the s**t out of him every day, just mercilessly. He had a younger brother who wasn't touched. His father made the kids call him Mr. Silverman.' According to the comic, her father found connection with her mother, Beth Ann, an artist who was also abused as a child. Their's was not a happy union for multiple reasons, including the fact that Silverman's father was unfaithful to her mother, she said. 'She was more of a free spirit than my dad, who wanted to be a writer but instead took over his father's store. Once they were married and she became a part of him ego-wise, he pounded that out of her and made fun of her,' Silverman said. 'He humiliated her and felt she was lazy because she was in bed a lot. That was before people knew what depression was.' But there was even more sadness. Five years before Silverman was born, her brother, Jeffrey, was three months old when he was left in the care of Donald's parents and supposedly died after a portion of his crib collapsed. 'The story was that something happened with the crib, and Jeffrey's little body slid and he got suffocated,' Silverman told Rolling Stone. 'But if you look back, there was never a lawsuit with the crib company or anything.' Silverman said years later, her father shared what he actually felt happened to Jeffrey. 'My dad says, 'I always felt that he was crying or something, and my dad shook him,'' Silverman recalled. ''He shook him in a rage and killed him.'' 'As soon as he said it, it was like, 'Of course, that's what happened,'' Silverman recalled. 'His mother always stood by her husband,' she said her dad's parents. 'She watched him beat the s**t out of her son. I couldn't ask my mom, because she was dead.' Silverman's father has also since passed away, as well as his parents. 'Sarah Silverman: Post Mortem' is streaming on Netflix.

Sarah Silverman claims her grandpa murdered her baby brother in horrific family secret revealed by dad before death
COMEDIAN Sarah Silverman has revealed a horror family secret centred on the death of her late brother for the first time. The TV star, who was formerly in a long-term relationship with Jimmy Kimmel and starred on his talk show in 2021, has opened up on the sobering moment she discovered her grandfather was allegedly to blame for the little boy's passing. 6 6 6 Saturday Night Live alum Sarah, 54, has now candidly opened up on a discussion with her late father and "best pal" Donald, who died in 2023. Her words shed light on a terrible family tragedy involving not only little Jeffrey but also her fathers troubled childhood, during which she claims his own dad "beat the s*** out of him every day, just mercilessly." The New Hampshire-born actress, stand-up and writer, who both penned and starred in The Sarah Silverman Programme, told Rolling Stone how her father's relationship with mom Beth Ann was rocky, and saw him "humiliate" and "belittle" her. Yet when Beth Ann won a cruise trip prize, five years before Sarah's birth, it appeared to offer some hope. The parents left baby Jeffrey with his grandparents, Donald's mum and dad, yet he tragically died when his crib collapsed on him. During the writing of her memoir, Sarah said the truth finally came out when her parents - who rarely agreed - had the same account of the little boy's passing. Sarah told the publication: "The story was that something happened with the crib, and Jeffrey's little body slid and he got suffocated. "But if you look back, there was never a lawsuit with the crib company or anything." Yet it was her 2022 show Bedwetter in Manhattan, which Donald watched five times in a row in the year before he died, when the horror truth came to light. In the scenes, Sarah made a joke about Jeffrey's passing and after the fifth show, Donald headed backstage. John C. Reilly and Sarah Silverman discusses their latest film Ralph Breaks the Internet on This Morning She added to the publication: 'My dad says, 'I always felt that he was crying or something, and my dad shook him. "He shook him in a rage and killed him. "As soon as he said it, it was like, 'Of course, that's what happened.' "His mother always stood by her husband. "She watched him beat the s**t out of her son. "I couldn't ask my mom, because she was dead.' FAMILY LIFE Sarah and fellow comedian Jimmy dated from 2002, before calling it a day in 2009. She then dated actor Michael Sheen for four years from 2014 before splitting up in 2018. In October 2020, she revealed she was dating comedian Rory Albanese. The pair started their romance during lockdown whilst playing an online video together. Yet she has candidly told how her own career had impacted her own family decisions. She previously took to X to write: "As a comic always working & on the road I have had to decide between motherhood & living my fullest life & I chose the latter." 'Men don't have to do that. I'd so love to be a fun dad, coming home from the road and being my best fun dad self. 'So this is just a lil f*** all y'all, because you can't be a woman without sacrifice, and that's the fact, Jack." Sarah then added: "I love my comedian brothers that acknowledge this truth. "They're my family, and, for a lot of us women comic sisters, our only family.' 6 6 6

Shiba Inu with a ‘heartbreaking' past is now learning to trust. She needs a home
A sweet pup was rescued from a horrifying animal abuse case, and now she's in need of a loving home with a human she can trust. BethAnn, a Shiba Inu, was subjected to unimaginable cruelty with a pack of other dogs, until the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Philadelphia stepped into the picture. 'BethAnn's life before rescue was nothing short of heartbreaking,' the shelter said in a May 2 Facebook post. 'Her days were spent confined to a raised cage, surrounded by filth and excrement. And her eye, badly deformed from a condition left untreated for far too long, became a constant source of pain. 'But everything changed the day our Animal Law Enforcement team arrived.' Nothing could have prepared the team for what was discovered. 'Acting on a tip from the dog warden, in less than 24 hours our officers served a warrant at an illegal kennel in Snyder County,' the shelter continued. 'What they found was devastating: multiple Shiba Inus, like BethAnn, and poodle-type mixes, all living in deplorable conditions. Some were injured. Most were terrified. None had known real care or compassion.' The 6-year-old pup was taken in by the rescue along with the other dogs. 'Once at our Philadelphia headquarters, our veterinary team gave them all the medical attention they needed. After careful evaluation, they made the difficult decision to surgically remove BethAnn's damaged eye,' the shelter said. 'Each day since, she has taken one small step forward. She's beginning to trust again and to learn that life can be kind. Now, she's ready for her next chapter — a forever home.' According to her pet profile, BethAnn is a shy but sweet girl once she gets to know people. She's a fan of being outdoors and gets along with 'dog-savvy kids and other pups.'
