Cherry Blossoms reach peak bloom in Washington, D.C.
The cherry tree blossoms have reached peak bloom in our nation's capitol and like always are gathering the attention of millions of visitors.
There are just over 3,000 cherry trees in Washington, D.C. that were given as a gift from Tokyo, Japan in 1912. The trees were given as a symbol of friendship between the United States and Japan, although just over 25 years later things quickly changed with World War II. Today, the relationship between countries is as strong as ever.
Did you know the mayor of Tokyo had to send the trees twice? Once in 1910 and again in 1912. Find out why in the video above and hear Ozarks First's Bethany French's account of when she visited Washington, D.C. during the cherry blossom bloom.
