"The meeting concluded that the current Covid-19 situation in India remains under control. As of May 19, 2025, the number of active Covid-19 cases in India stands at 257, a very low figure considering the country's large population," an official source said. "Almost all of these cases are mild, with no hospitalization required," they added. The review meeting was convened under the chairpersonship of the director general of health services, bringing together experts from the National Centre for Disease Control, emergency medical relief division, disaster management cell, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and key central government hospitals. Meanwhile, actor Shilpa Shirodkar, known for her roles in 1990s films like Bewafa Sanam, Khuda Gawah, and Gopi Kishan, has tested positive for Covid-19. According to sources, the Union health ministry remains alert and proactive, continuously assessing the situation and ensuring necessary measures are in place to protect public health.
