Death in Paradise star teased a surprise reunion with a former co-star in the latest series of the hit BBC detective show Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has delighted fans by sharing an unexpected reunion with a Love Actually co-star in the upcoming season. The actor, who plays the charismatic lead detective, hinted at this exciting development while promoting the fresh episodes of Beyond Paradise in Australia. On The Project this Sunday, Kris joyously announced that Abdul Salis, known as his steadfast pal Tony from 'Love Actually', has popped up for a guest spot in the mystery-laden drama. The 52 year old star couldn't hide his elation at crossing paths with Abdul once again, confessing it's been over two decades since their last encounter. "I had only seen him once in 24 years," shared a nostalgic Kris. Reflecting on the serendipitous nature of his profession, he mused: "It's a beautiful thing about being an actor. You pick up where you left off. It's kind of symbiotic. I love it." With evident happiness about reuniting with an old mate, Kris added: "So, he came in and did a guest thing and we're all a bit older and, you know, we're not very much wiser. We're all good." While keeping specifics under wraps about Abdul's role, Kris couldn't resist dropping a hint that possibly clears his former co-star's character from suspicion. Kris teasingly began: "I don't think he's..." before dissolving into laughter, making it clear he wouldn't divulge any spoilers, reports Wales Online. Abdul has also made a mark with roles like paramedic Curtis Cooper in 'Casualty', along with appearances in other acclaimed series including ' Doctor Who ', 'Father Brown', and rounding out his résumé with 'The Wheel of Time'. Kris and Sally Breton offered a sneak peek into the upcoming series, paralleling their real-life parenting experiences with their characters' foster parenting journey in the show. While discussing DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd's venture into foster care, Kris disclosed to HELLO!: "Parenting is often three steps forward, two steps back, and when you think you're winning, the rug gets pulled out from underneath you." Sally shared a similar sentiment, reflecting on her personal experiences: "I understood getting it wrong. I understand thinking right, I'm getting somewhere, and then the next day, there's a new problem or another worry you've got on the shelf." She added, speaking from the trenches of parenting: "I understand that you never get to a point where you think: 'I've got this', and then absolutely haven't. And that is parenting in my experience." Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

Kris Marshall reveals which Love Actually co-star is joining the cast of his hit BBC series Beyond Paradise - and shares how viewers can guess the killer in every episode
Kris Marshall is in Australia promoting the new season of hit BBC series Beyond Paradise. And the British actor, who stars in Beyond Paradise, says a familiar face is set to crop up on the murder mystery show. Marshall, who rose to fame in the 2003 film Love Actually, says his co-star Abdul Salis, who played his best mate Tony in the comedy, will soon appear in Beyond Paradise. 'I had only seen him once in 24 years' the 52-year-old said on Sunday's episode of The Project. 'It's a beautiful thing about being an actor. You pick up where you left off. It's kind of symbiotic. I love it. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'So, he came in and did a guest thing and we're all a bit older and, you know, we're not very much wiser. We're all good.' Marshall appeared to hint that Salis won't be the killer in the episode, but stopped himself before giving a little too much away. 'I don't think he's... I'm not going to give any spoilers!' he said with a laugh. Marshall also gave audiences for the mystery murder series, which streams on BritBox Down Under, a major clue on how to crack each case. He joked that viewers tend to guess who the killer is each episode before his character, bumbling Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman, manages to do so - and there is a surefire way to work out whodunnit. 'When I first started, I used this thing I called the Scooby Doo algorithm - it's always the second person they meet' he said, but conceded, 'some are more complex.' 'It taught me our audiences are better at solving the crimes than I am. That is weird. I literally have the scripts... I'm absolutely awful at it' he said. Marshall played Detective Goodman first in the hit BBC series Death in Paradise and then in its equally popular spin off Beyond Paradise , which has just returned for a third series. At age 27 played the hopeless fop Colin Frissell in 2003's Love Actually, which made him pretty huge. His character heads for Wisconsin, where his English accent is enough to get him into bed with January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Denise Richards and Shannon Elizabeth. Marshall took over solving murder mysteries on a Caribbean island in 2014 from Ben Miller, the show's first star – and he proved such a ratings success they created Beyond Paradise specifically for him, in damp Devon. Yet when he first auditioned for Death in Paradise in 2013 they turned him down flat. 'I didn't even make the final four,' he says. Newly married, with a three-month-old baby and his US sitcom Traffic Light recently ended, he needed a job. Then, 'Ten days later they phoned to say, 'We've made a mistake' and that changed ten years of my life.' In an age of falling viewing figures, Death in Paradise

Beyond Paradise's Sally Bretton returns to role after farewell to co-star
Sally Bretton is set to reprise her role as Lucy in the hit BBC sitcom Not Going Out, starring alongside Lee Mack. The show, which features Lee as a fictionalised version of himself and Sally as his on-screen wife, is gearing up for its 14th season next month. Lee Mack expressed his joy about returning to the series, saying: "I am delighted that the BBC are once again showing such great support for studio sitcom." He humorously added: "It's a genre I've always loved, and to be able to be part of it myself for so many years is both a privilege and an excuse not to have to shop, as I always take the underpants they give me home." Jon Petrie, BBC's Director of Comedy, praised the show: "'Not Going Out' is in rude health as it passes its centenary episode, and that's due to the incredible creativity of Lee Mack, who has the most amazing ability to pack a show full of jokes." He also teased fans with what's to come: "We're excited for audiences to find out what the new chapter looks like for Lee and Lucy," reports the Express. The forthcoming season promises a fresh twist, with a time jump for the characters Lee and Lucy and a novel format in which each episode unfolds over a 30-minute period. The show's teaser hints at the storyline: "Series 14 now rolls the story on several years again, with the couple moving away from their suburban 'empty nest' and finding plenty of time to focus on each other... what could possibly go wrong? (Spoiler: quite a lot! )." In related news, the third series of Beyond Paradise recently concluded, bringing emotional turmoil for Sally's character, Martha, and Kris Marshall's character, Humphrey Goodman. In a deeply moving episode, the couple on their fostering journey had to bid farewell to their foster daughter, Rosie. The emotional scenes saw Martha's mother, Anne (played by Barbara Flynn), embrace Rosie with a poignant hug, telling her: "Take care of yourself, won't you?" Martha, unable to hold back tears, hugged Rosie tightly and reassured her: "You're family now. So, if you ever need anything." Humphrey chimed in, "Yes, anything at all," with Martha affirming, "We are only a phone call away." Rosie, caught between emotions, asked: "Is it ok to be happy and sad at the same time?" Martha tenderly responded: "Of course it is." "That is how I feel, then," said Rosie, visibly moved, before she took her leave from the couple.
