Make social service an integral part of life, says Governor
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has called upon citizens to make social service an integral part of their life and uphold the timeless teachings of Bhagavan Mahavir for inner peace and social harmony.
Speaking at a Jain conference organized by the 1008 Bhattaraka Shri Adinath Digambar Jain Samaj Trust in Belagavi on Sunday, the Governor said that the world is now looking to India for self-welfare, spiritual growth and peace and the teachings of Bhagavan Mahavir centered on truth, non-violence and compassion can guide society towards harmony and universal brotherhood.
'Our ancient cultural heritage, based on principles like Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah, promotes peace, equality and global harmony. Jainism has always prioritized service — be it feeding the hungry, running cow shelters, supporting the elderly or establishing schools and hospitals. These efforts reflect the community's deep commitment to selfless service,' he said.
The Governor also highlighted the role of religion in organizing society and preserving cultural roots. Recalling the message of Bhagavan Mahavir — Ahimsa Paramo Dharma and Live and Let Live —, the Governor said that in today's world, marked by growing unrest, these teachings have become more relevant than ever.
Shri Gunadharanandi Maharaj of Navagraha Teertha, Varur (Hubballi), the former Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi and several other dignitaries participated in the conference.
